Sun Hung Kai raises warranty roof

Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016) is to increase two-year warranty periods on properties now on sale and on future projects by another year.

But deputy managing director Mike Wong Chik-wing denied yesterday this is a sales tactic in the face of intense competition. Rather, he said, ``we hope our homebuyers feel safe'' in trusting SHKP.

Buyers of the group's latest projects, Imperial Kennedy in Western and The Cullinan near MTR Kowloon Station, will benefit immediately.

Since it opened sales at Imperial Kennedy on November 8, SHKP has offloaded 88 of 126 flats available, racking up about HK$1 billion.

Also, the last three units on sale at the relaunched Cullinan will be on the market this Friday. There have been 178 flats taken since sales were relaunched last month.

Looking further ahead, the 31-house project Shouson Peak in Repulse Bay will be launched within five weeks, said another deputy managing director at SHKP, Victor Lui Ting, with prices to be revealed soon.

Lui also said the second phase of Century Gateway in Tuen Mun, offering 911 flats, will be going on sale in mid-December.

Meanwhile, the first 220 flats at The Avenue in Wan Chai developed by Sino Land (0083) and Hopewell Holdings (0054) are oversubscribed by nearly 14 times. And Nan Fung has more than 2,000 registrations for a first batch of 318 flats at The Visionary in Tung Chung.
