It's been 3 months since we've gotten a construction update on this. Has it progressed? Gone vertical perhaps?

Finally a glass curtain scraper I can get behind. It compliments its surroundings perfectly, and is also very aesthetic on its own.

I was downtown last week, they're still digging so nothing worth reporting yet.

I actually believe the rendering is correct. The Woolworth is further down from 111 Murray so it will look shorter from this view.
A better comparison would be the Goldman Sachs tower right next to it which stands at 228m; based in that, it looks about right.

This is a great building, and it even looks beautiful in the renders, which many buildigns don't. Hard to think though that all the land and skyscrapers in front of this site could only be built due to the World Trade Center!

Are they counting the height to the roof and not to the parapet? Because then it might be accurate.

I think the Goldman Sachs' figure is based on the parapet height.

Should be rising soon.

The overall design is stunning, it brings freshness to the skyline along with the rest of the newer glassy towers. The interiors are pretty good too.

New York Yimby has a long article about the history of the site and a construction photo:

Loving these rounded towers going up in Lower Manhattan. Its a refreshing change from all the blocky towers around WTC.

...Disagree:imo,organic designs do not go with NY at all.
Moreover,Manhattan is becoming a bit messy and "exotic".
From far,Chicago is without contest the most elegant and beautiful American city.

The curves are elegant, not quite up to the 50 west standard, but attractive. It gives me the impression of a champagne glass - delicate, but I like it.

I was inside the predecessor - the St John's building - in 1998 during my first fall going to High School nearby. The extent to which the area West of West Broadway has been transformed by new residential structures in unreal. I still remember the pile driving for buildings going up next to my high school on the other side of West Street.

Tribeca's 111 Murray Gets Craned & Readies for 810-Foot Climb

Tribeca's 111 Murray Gets Craned & Readies for 810-Foot Climb

Quote:
Downtown Manhattan's next cloud-buster is on the rise. Last week the construction crews at 111 Murray Street erected a stalwart red crane symbolizing the forthcoming ascension of a 62-story, 810-foot condominium tower at the corner of Murray and West streets. Anticipated by some to become ""the most elegant addition to the downtown skyline in decades,"" the svelte skyscraper was designed by the accomplished architects at Kohn Pedersen Fox. The curvaceous tower will be wrapped in glass and culminates into a flared illuminated crown.
