Not sure do I like it or not. Imo it does have potential to look quite bad with that diamond facade combined with those balconies.

Though I would be really interested to see how exactly it will work with other Canary Wharf buildings.

By far, CW's most beautiful tower (if built of course), I really like it.

Indeed very true!

London will have 4 clusters soon!

- The City
- Canary Wharf
- Nine Elms area
- Elephant and Castle

We just need that one more super tall - hopefully where the Pinnacle will be!

Don't forget London Bridge area... there are more towers planned to sit alongside The Shard.

Any one know what plot this is planned for ? It looks like its on the riverside south site?
Either way.. I think it brings a welcome uniqueness to the area yet fits well with its surroundings.
Also is that a potentially cracking roof top bar/restaurant location on the top?

When looking at Riverside South from the river, it's on a plot immediately behind it.

And there are two very tall residential buildings going up either side of this tower too...

Add Riverside South to that and Canary Wharf has doubled in size.

YES! Canary Wharf is going to look outstanding...

The whole area will, especailly the the development near the O2 Arena and possibly Wood Wharf.

Construction of latest Canary Wharf tower could begin before the end of 2013
By Rob Virtue on September 14, 2013 7:23 PM |

Work could begin on Canary Wharf's first residential development later this year.

The Newfoundland scheme is currently going through the planning process at Tower Hamlets Council and Canary Wharf Group has said, if successful, construction would start within weeks.

In the parent company Songbird's financial report for the first six months of 2013, it said: "In June, the Group submitted a planning application for a stunning new development at Newfoundland.

"The fully residential tower, designed by Horden Cherry Lee Architects, will contain around 550 luxury apartments and, if the application is successful, a start on site is anticipated by the end of this year."

If approved by Tower Hamlets' strategic development committee, Newfoundland will be the first residential property on the Canary Wharf estate.

The company announced its intentions for Newfoundland earlier this year

It had previously looked at building a hotel on the site, which is at the south-west of the estate.

The residential block will be 58 storeys high.

This has had two plant floors added to the proposal, it brings the height to 220m now.

Nice difference for London.

I like the texture.

I understand that an agreement has been reached with LBTH to obtain full planning application. Main external amendments required by the officers and agreed by and with Canary Wharf are the following:
  • Increase in height to include two additional plant floors (AOD: 226.; AGL: 220)
  • Removal of the fin at the top of the building
  • Expression of diagrid and balcony distributions

Construction is expected to start in the next few months.
