Definitely reminds me of The Bow (Calgary), nice tower.

This thing REALLY looks like it should belong in the city. The colors remind me of the Gurkin, but as we know there's little to no space in the city anymore. The problem with this is while it's a nice proposal, the devil really will be in the detail and if it lives up to these renders. Aside from that I think the most pressing issue for developers (esp. in the future when expanding) is that even if it does live up to the renders, it might stick out like a sore thumb in Canary Wharf with its industrial looking buildings.

Personally, I think the design does not suit the City. It fits into CW nicely.

It will be like the Hearst Tower in New York City. It will compliment it's surroundings and bring another personality to the area.

I think it will look fantastic and even better in real life rather than the renders.

I would say its an OK tower. Its because London is held in higher standards than other cities in the world. I like it more than Shard thuogh. I have heard superlative evaluations about Shard. Honestly, it does not impress me. If I had to vote about it, it would have been a solid "No". I blame myself though for not liking it. Maybe that architecture is ahead of its time, or I lack the gene of telling gems.

Brilliant updates PortoNuts - it's much appreciated.

Everything looks set for construction so far then!

Agreed. Will bring a fresh bit of design to the Docklands.

Well needed in my opinion.

Very cool looking renders.. Just curious how long have the canary wharfs been around? How far down is bedrock?

Really nice! It'll change the image of Canary Wharf.

Canary Wharf itself has been around since the days of The British Empire. It was used as a dock for goods mostly imported from the Canary Islands (thus the name), the Carribean, and more.

"After the 1960s, the port industry began to decline, leading to the all docks being closed by 1981.

The first buildings were completed in 1991 which included One Canada Square that became the UK's tallest building and a symbol of the regeneration of Docklands."

So in answer - the Financial Districts first tower was completed in 91.

Certainly a notch above the other buildings in the area, though not as imaginative as the Shard or other buildings around the Gherkin.

Indeed - it will be certainly refeshing to have such a design in a rather Americanised-Boxy Financial District which is still beautiful, but the could do with a little change.

The City in Central London is certainly where the more outgoing designs are.

I think they are running out space for major skyscrapers in the City. That could mean some interesting designs showing up at CW.

Oh I don't know about that... there are plenty of ugly towers around the world - and we certainly have our fair share in London! xD

But this tower is by no means 'ugly'.

Ugly doesn't mean bad, anyway. Guy's for example is hideous, but that's its charm. Wouldn't miss it.
