Warszava / Warsaw - unique place in Northeast Europe

Hi all,

Ive just been in Warszava, and in this thread I will present various shots of the city.

Very unique feeling, very nice place, and good, north smell of air.

I was in Warsaw last Wednesday, just for couple of hours, but still... and despite the fact that Downtown looks really nice I couldn't stand the smell, you're walking on E. Plater St. and the only thing that gets to your nose is a disgusting mix of pizza, BBQ and piss. JESUS. Not to mention the traffic...

Well, I think that in many more cities you get the smell like that. But the air itself smells different, its cool and northern in the morning.

Definitely, but I can't say I'm used to it, i can really remember if I've ever been to a city that smelled so bad, even NYC smells better.

Sorry to hear that. By the way, in Bombay or Mumbai I think it was smelly. But not in Warsaw.

A few more pics:

Well this central areas (Śrˇdmieście, parts of Wola and Ochota) are among the dirtiest parts of the city and the most dangerous too.

I figured that much, I wish I had more time, so I could see a little more and get a better view of the city.

No way in hell. I have been to both cities. But to be honest I think it depends what day it is and what season.

I was multiple times in Warsaw and Vienna. Vienna smells a lot worse.

True but to some extent. This part of the town is slightly dominated with such a places but this is rather global issue, that doesn't only concern Warsaw. I was in almost every capital in Europe. Amsterdam was stinking in some parts (maily in Center), Berlin (AlexanderPlatz) not to mention about Paris or Budapest. What really makes Warsaw unique place in the map of Europe and World it's the history...Today is the 69th anniversary of outburst of Warsaw Uprising. After 63 days of fight against Germans towards the freedom whole city was totally destroyed i.e. less than 1000 lived in the ruins !

Please watch those 2 short movies...

Did they took that from Israel? I know that they do the same on Jom haScho'a but in the whole country.
