Progress 2013

"Neither a museum nor a theme park, but an original concept which lies somewhere in between."

The Center for wine and civilization will not be a museum in the classic sense of the word, as we will not be showing specific collections in the permanent exhibition space. It will not be a theme park either, which are places whose main purpose is to entertain and amuse. The original concept of the Centre will subtly mix the best of these two worlds.

Promote emotion, feelings and the dream

Conveying knowledge in an interactive way. Allowing visitors to enjoy the experience at their own pace. Following you heart. These are the founding principles of the Center for wine and civilization’s visitor experience. Our visitors will set off on a voyage of discovery through the history of wine and civilisation, exploring the different facets of this ancient relationship (history, geography, geology, oenology, the arts, etc.) Welcoming visitors into the world of wine, the Center for wine and civilization will prioritise emotion, experience, sensations and dreaming.

The future City of civilizations of wine aims to become an emblematic place of excellence and a true gateway to the vineyards of Bordeaux. It thus continue a tourist economic objective (support and promote the industry), (development of wine tourism) and cultural.

It doors opens early 2016! The site chosen for the project from the City of civilizations is that old wine forges the Port of Bordeaux along the Garonne, in the neighborhood of River afloat. In direct contact with the river, enjoying an exceptional accessibility (tram bypass, Bacalan Bastide bridge) and high visibility, the City of civilizations wine takes the form of a building due to the exceptional architecture.

Everything about this project is strange - including the fact that the building looks like a giant sock. But maybe I'm missing something.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the building was inspired by the shape of a gourd.

It's like a wine carafe.

The Second Book of General Ignorance

“French romances occupy a central position in the development of medieval European
literature. Their most popular subject matter by far was the Arthurian legend, which, though it
had its origins elsewhere, was first cast in romance form in France: the Round Table, the
tragic love story of Lancelot and Guinevere, and the notion of the Grail quest were all French
innovations."

I don't even want to tell you what that looks like. Even the colour fits.
