Hyatt, law firm plan moves to new West Loop tower

Quote:
Hyatt Hotels Corp. and law firm Polsinelli PC are in advanced negotiations to move to a 53-story office tower under construction along the Chicago River, deals that would make the development about 60 percent pre-leased two years before it's complete.

Chicago-based Hyatt is finalizing a lease to move its headquarters to about 250,000 square feet in the building at 150 N. Riverside Plaza, according to people familiar with the project. Kansas City, Missouri-based Polsinelli also is close to shifting its Chicago office to about 110,000 square feet in the tower...

Should be pretty tough to work all day in those frigid conditions. Not ideal for the curing process of concrete either.

The bottom is unusual and makes it unique... hope it stays, love the artistic form of the building overall, but the base makes it memorable.

Hyatt confirms it will move HQ in 2017

Quote:
Hyatt Hotels said today that it will move its headquarters to a 53-story office tower under construction along the Chicago River in the West Loop.

The announcement confirmed a Crain's report in November that the Chicago-based hotel chain planned to move to the 1.2 million-square-foot tower at 150 N. Riverside Plaza. The company is currently based at the Hyatt Center, 71 S. Wacker Drive.

With the long-term lease for about 250,000 square feet, Hyatt will begin moving about 1,000 employees from two other buildings—the headquarters and 200 W. Monroe St.—by the end of 2017, Hyatt spokeswoman Danielle Tullier said.

Hyatt leases about 230,000 square feet at its namesake headquarters and 75,000 square feet at 200 W. Monroe St. Its headquarters lease doesn't expire until 2020.

This is such a cool project. I wish NY was getting something like this on the East River.

With Foundation Poured, 150 N Riverside is Ready to Rise

Quote:
As nature sent us a very cold shoulder this Valentine's Day, many of us enjoyed the warmth of the indoors. However, at 150 North Riverside, crews worked in the frigid temperatures from Friday evening through all of Saturday to complete the foundation mat for the future 54 story tower. A foundation mat is a structural piece that ties all of the subterranean elements of the foundation together, spreading the loads of the future office tower between them. All of the drilled caissons have their respective tops tied into the mat, which is a very large block of reinforced concrete that must be poured all at once.

It's so close to the tracks, will part of it cover them like Hudson yards in NY? If not the core looks a little off center.

This building is cool by the way, I'm stoked this part of the river is getting so developed.

This is eerily similar to the buildings that were constructed a couple of years ago in the Abu Dhabi Financial Center

Of course, the architect is the same - why bother with a new concept...
