Took the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow yesterday during track work, so I had to get off at Hammersmith and take bus to Boston Manor. I was dreading it with luggage but it turned out OK and it really impressed me how there were plenty of workers showing people to the right bus stations and helping with luggage. And this was after being impressed by the Underground the whole time I was in London. The best transit network I've ever used!

There's a Skyfall version for that and the link to it is in the same website you mentioned.

Due to hot weather I've been a bit slow with my photographs.

Don't know if this has been discussed before but did TFL ever consider building the Victoria line further than Brixton? South London was pretty lacking before the overground and it seems like a nobrainer to extend at least as far as Croydon. Was it built to allow this in the future? If crossrail2 takes the pressure off the vic line will it be extended then?

For many years there have been proposals to extend one stop to a large reversing loop to herene hill

In Boris' latest transport plan he wanted the Victoria line to be extended however he was very vague about where to and it would almost certainly be post CR2

In many ways it is a no brainer, including if you don't think about the crowding on the line and how extending it would just exacerbate that...

The original plan was that the extension from Victoria to Brixton was phase 2, with Croydon reached about phase 4. This got replaced when phase 1 reached the bill stage, with Victoria - Parsons Green - Wimbledon being the phase 2 proposal. However they reverted back to Brixton, though terminated the line there (an extension is possible, but they didn't leave provision for it).

The route would have been under the A23, and would have had stations at (from this map): Herne Hill, Streatham Hill, Streatham, Streatham Common, Norbury, Norbury South, (one-station branch to East Croydon), Mayday, West Croydon, Croydon Central, South Croydon, (branch to Selsdon and Sanderstead), Purley, Coulsdon North

The East or West Croydon option is most likely if there is to be one, given that the regeneration case is burning hot and the Overground is already there - possibly:

Brixton - Streatham Hill - Streatham - Streatham Common - Norbury - Thornton Heath - Selhurst - Croydon

This would require a new depot.

Seems like as its busy branches aren't possible. The upgrade at the start of the year allowed an extra 6 trains/ 10000 people per hour, is it still super crowded?

I read that stations are the expensive part of building subways, could the longer express routes be tunneled from the suburbs so the surface rail service could be converted to overground-like service?

What like Crossrail 2?

Looking at a BRS Code map (my one from 2005) Steatham Hill and Streatham both have BRS codes. Unsure if its relevant but it shows that some kind of planning has been put forward.

No, a tunnel from say Croydon into an enlarged city centre terminus allowing long distance trains ie Brighton to run along so that the surface route frequency could be increased.

Capacity to Brighton will be increased by the Thameslink program and if necessary gatwick express services can be extended to provide additional capacity. And that's effectively what CR2 is, trains off the SWML can run into the new tunnels taking the pressure off Waterloo thus allowing additional services on other parts of the route

Extension imminent on the Tube, according to the BBC article at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23443173, the TWAO has been granted and it is Hertfordshire first new railway since 1925...

...and possibly Metroland Mark II.
