It's now as fast as the 92TS on the Central line. The Victoria line will probably be overall faster as it was built with continuous 85km/h running.

But unfortunately it's one of the most boring on the network in terms of architecture...

Amended the post on page 27 to only contain LU/DLR info. Will add stuff about Tramlink in the near future.

Can any mods move that post to the start of the thread? I really think it belongs there.

Done... ish

I can't move posts within a thread, just edit existing posts so I've pasted the post into the first on the thread. When you want to update it you'll have to PM me.

F**kin' hell!! That was fast.

Are all tube lines due up for renewed carriages or is there going to be quite some before some lines get new trains?

The Victoria line is getting new stock currently. They should all be in service by 2011. I believe all lines are getting new stock apart from the Central, Northern, W&C and Jubilee as they already have modern rolling stock, the next are the S Stock for the Sub-surface lines.

Unfortunately, there won't be as much as a speed increase because the new sub-surface line trains will run on the current signalling system, the new stock for the Victoria line comparatively are running on a new more advanced signalling system.

How many of the new trains currently have been delivered to Victoria line? What are chances of catching one on the weekend? I wouldn't mind trying one myself.

I think they are sometimes running on the weekends and maybe even during rush hour this is a good place to check.

I ride the Victoria line 3-4 times a day and the several times I've caught one of the new trains its been during the day, about 2pm.

Isn't South London a bit badly served by the Tube? At least the North network is so much more extensive in comparison. I hope that will change when East London line reopens.

That's true. Only few stations and majority of Northern line. The TfL doesn't have plans to South London?

Unlike North London, South London has had a well developed electrified overground network for years, making the Tube less needed. Also the geology south of the river does not favour deep level tunnel boring.

That's old. The art installation currently there I think is this one:
