Westminster station is awesome - my favourite tube station in London

Only at the subterrenean stations. Stratford, West Ham and Canning Town are above ground and therefore don't have them.

Security must be extra tight at Westminster station with MP offices directly above. A damage to one of those supports would probably be catastrophic. Definitely one of the coolest stations though.

It's highly unlikely any home-made explosives could damage any of the pillars at Westminster, and even if they did there are probably back-ups.

I'd imagine police are more worried about terrorists instead flying planes into Big Ben from the flightpaths into Heathrow, but hey that's me.

I recently started riding on the DLR after a few trips to Greenwich and Canary Wharf. Having never used it before, I was impressed with the system and favor it over the Tube in some ways, mainly by how modern it seems overall(especially the stations) and its speed and frequency.

I do have some minor issues though, such as the location of Cutty Sark's exit. It opens up on some tiny side road, when it makes more sense if it opened up on the nice open riverfront area nearby with the ship the station it's named after. Maybe even link it to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel's entrance. Is there any particular reason for this?

Also, the Oyster reader at Canary Wharf glitched and failed to properly record me as touching out. This messed up a later journey and got me hit with a maximum fare, and would have probably gotten me a penalty fare had I run into a ticket inspector. I know things like that are rare, but they still make me paranoid about using either the card or the DLR...

I also didn't see any of the three-car trains despite them being advertised all over the place. I did see some of the new B07 stock though, although I only got to ride it very briefly.

Overall though, a nice piece of work.

I wonder how many 'wrong' names are still visible in their entirety?

Gillespie Road = Arsenal

Great Central = Marylebone

Heath Street = Hampstead

I definitely recall seeing tiles saying 'Westminster Bridge Road' (= Lambeth North), but I think they were swept away in a refurbishment

I love Marylebone tube station's "Great Central" tile name - I trust it will never go?

I'm impressed with most of the Tube stations. Have most undergone refurbishments in recent years ? They look spic 'n' span for the most part.

Lot's have, but I wouldn't say most.

You can usually differentiate between stations that have been refurbished recently and ones that haven't, I find the former usually have the lighting encased in metal panelling whereas the latter the lighting is exposed strip lighting.

I thought that was pretty quiet for rush hour actually!

In fact they closed Oxford Circus when I passed at around 6.30 again today. It's crazy! We need more than Crossrail! What about the Bakerloo and Victoria lines?! We need 4 Crossrail lines for the 8 points of the compass.

I haven't said anything then, I suppose I have been lucky and never form part of such a crowd. However I have not travelled that much in the tube.

I am part of a crowd like that every working day (to a smaller scale of course) and it's not fun anymore after a while .
