Line R5.
Manresa-Baixador station.

Manresa-Baixador is the current terminus of R5 and R50 trains, and it is the most central station in Manresa.

It´s a rather ugly station, built in 1969 in replacement of an older one:

The only railway station in Sant Quirze del Vallès.

A class 112 EMU leaves the station bound for Barcelona-Plaça Catalunya.

Line R2.
Bellvitge station.

Bellvitge station is the last stop before Barcelona-Sants if you come from the airport or from Sitges with line R2.
It´s an interchange point with the FGC-Llobregat network (Lines L8, S33, S4, S8, R5, and R6), albeit not very well known since the FGC station has a different name (Gornal).
Bellvitge station needs an upgrade (it has low platforms, and the tracks are too old).

Don´t get lost here very late at night, it´s not a very safe quarter (though it´s not as bad as it was).

Here´s a double-decker class 450 EMU, bound for Barcelona-Estació de França:

Line R1.

New timetable from September/16/2013 on, with Mataró services extended till Arenys de Mar at peak hours (Monday to Friday only).

This measure is permanent, and its goal is to relieve overcrowding on services to/from Calella, Blanes, and Maçanet-Massanes.
The measure would have been quite helpful if it had been implemented in early July. But well, better now than never.

Lines R1, R3, R4.
L´Hospitalet de Llobregat station.

This is one of the most important Rodalies stations.
It is an interchange point to Metro L1 (Rambla Just Oliveras station).

A technical problem here cascades to all the network.
The station is in works now to reduce its impact on the timetables.

Line R1.
Mataró station.

Open since 1848, the oldest railway line in Spain.
It´s quite a busy station, with some trains terminating here, while others continue to Arenys de Mar, Calella, Blanes or Maçanet-Massanes.

Lines R1, R2.
Maçanet-Massanes station.

This station is the northern terminus of both lines R1 and R2.
Regional trains for Girona, Figueres, Portbou and Cerbère call here too.

The station is not close to any relevant town, so it´s not very used.

That´s why many R1 trains have Blanes as terminus (Maçanet getting only one train per hour), and why most R2 trains have Sant Celoni as terminus (only one train every two hours in R2, and most of them are actually regional trains for Cerbère callin all stations that allow commuter fares between Barcelona and Maçanet).

The station has suffered major surgery lately.
One one hand, it´s got a new station building, the old one still remains though.
One the other hand, the Barcelona-Perpignan HSL crosses the station through a new viaduct.

Maçanet-Massanes could be a good interchange station for lines R1 and R2, but there are very few trains arriving there...

Line R4.
Sant Miquel de Gonteres-Viladecavalls station.

Commonly known as "Sant Miquel de Gonteres".

One train per hour in each direction (other R4 trains don´t call here, so they rush by).
One of the two worst Rodalies Renfe stations, no doubt about it.
It desperately needs an upgrade (it just needs an underpass and high platforms).

Look at the height and length of the platforms. In some places the rail is higher than the platform.
No underpass, and the bend is much narrower than it looks on the pictures.
It has no visibility, which makes it one of the two most dangerous stations of the Rodalies network.
The station is in the middle of a quarter, and people use the foot level crossing to go from one side of the quarter to the other.
The electrification posts date back to 1928, though I´m not sure wether they´ve been replaced or not.
If they do, it´s the only change in these pictures, taken in 2005.

I´d say THE worst, if it were not for the dangerosity of Viladecavalls station (just next to this one on line R4), which is located in an S narrow bend right at the exit of a tunnel, and though it has longer sections of high platform, the low platform is shorter, so some doors of the trains open into nothing (so you actually fall instead of alighting, if you don´t pay attention... ), and the foot level crossing is even more dangerous there, which is no small feat.

Adif really should start upgrading these two stations, they´d only win passengers!

Right now, a lot of people don´t use them because they´re so uncomfortable and dangerous.

Definitely, all stations on line R4 between Terrassa and Manresa really do need upgrading.

Cremallera de Montserrat - i'm not sure if the cremallera fit into the "suburban rail".
Nevertheless it's the FGC line.
