Edinburgh Photos

I made a stop in Edinburgh for a day trip from Glasgow. I found a very cheap bus fare on Megabus for only a pound each way + 50p booking fee. The buses were very nice. Riding a double decker down the highway for the hour-long trip was certainly quite interesting!

Although the weather wasn't too good, it gave the city a very different tone - one which I think is quite appropriate in fact when I look at how these photos turn out.

Edinburgh in my opinion is the nicest city in europe so i wish they would do something with the train station because i think it spoils it a bit but besides that i love it!!

Thanks for the great photos. I love how modern and old can be combined so effectively in Edinburgh and to great effect, however it can also go very, very wrong e.g. the st james' shopping centre.

EDINBURGH [7] Royal Yacht Britannia

I had to pay a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia, which was the ship that the British used to sail out of Hong Kong after the 1997 handover. At first I was a bit worried about the distance from the city centre since I only had a day trip planned to cover Edinburgh, but in the end I was able to fit this into my afternoon.

View of the surroundings

These chairs were bought in Hong Kong on a previous trip to the Crown Colony.

Medical Room

Laundry Room

Quite an interesting history lesson on this visit to Edinburgh's Hong Kong connection. Well worth the time!

Oh Wow those pics are great, a real insight into the Royal Family when travelling by Sea. I imagine they would have had many a good holiday onboard. Its also a very old fashioned interior with as you'd expect many nautical features.

I know its only like 30 miles from here but I've never had the time to go and see it, I think i will in the near future, especially after seeing these pics. Cheers

Edinburgh Photos

Since Edinburgh and Newcastle seem to be poorly represented i thought i'd show a selection of photos i took last week.

Edinburgh - mostly of Princes Street, the old part of the city and from the Scott Monument.

Absolutely superb pictures of two beautiful cities, thank you so much for posting them.

In one of the pictures I can see the Edinburgh tram works as well, nice one.

Those bloomin' tram works are a total nightmare already at some parts.... I can't wait to see the trams up and running, but bloody hell it's going to be a trial until then.... thankfully I'm working in Glasgow this summer and don't have to put up with it as much...

Smashing pics matey

Believe it or not, but I don't think those are tram works. The tram line doesn't actually go along South David Street (the 3rd picture down)... Edinburgh not only has to suffer tram works at the moment, but all the other road works that they've decided to do as well...

Yeah the 3rd pic isn't tramworks - just looks like utility or resurfacing works - doesn't really cause problems as it's a dead end now anway.
