Greater Birmingham/England/UK

Hi everyone, I'm going to be doing regular updates from my city of Birmingham in the UK, as well as the surrounding areas. Any advice on my photography would be nice, also does anyone know of a good photo editing software? Free if possible ;-) Hope you all enjoy, would like this thread to be as successful as the other UK friends on this section of this forum.

I'm going to be starting off with a look through Birmingham's China Town District. Its quite a small area, however seems to constantly be expanding. There's no clear start and end to this area, it just kind of merges into Birmingham's Gay District and Irish District as well as the city core. China Town is defiantly worth a look if your in Brum, especially for a night out. Its home to the Arcadian Centre, a mixed use part of China Town home to traditional Chinese Stores, and tonnes of bars, cafes and restaurants.

It`s about time this city was represented. I look forward to the rest. I would`nt worry about photo editing software. Lets see the city as it really is.

Cool pics. I look forward to more. Birmingham is much over-looked, especially considering it is Britain's second largest city.

I use a Mac - and the only editing tools I use are those on IPhoto - and which are pretty standard.

Good thread. Shame that I didn't explore more when I was there.

Cheers everyone, I want to show the real Birmingham, and not just the usual shots of Selfridges or the Library. Cause that's not what Birmingham is, its a great place, with poor transport, great architecture however rough round the edges. My first post clearly shows this as China Town is very Nitty Gritty, but a pretty interesting place, and in the centre of it all. Anyway lets be onward and upwards

Birminghams Gay District

Birmingham's Gay District is south of China Town, and as mentioned before there's no clear barrier between the two, they just sort of merge. The area is full of Apartments, Bars, Nightclubs etc. Its quite a nice area, however there's lots of empty land dotted around which are being used as surface car parks at the moment, the only time you see anything else on it is for the annual Pride event. Enjoy.

Good start! I will be watching this thread closely, I don't think there are many other Birmingham threads.

Indeed, it's a city that a haven't seen much pictures of. I hope we will get that opportunity now
The city looks a bit chaotic so far, but I like it.

Bull Ring - Part 1

Thanks for the comments everyone :-) Yes the cities very chaotic as opposed to other cities in the UK. Anyway here's some pictures around the outside of the City Centres main shopping centre, the Bull Ring. Its certainly the area that the whole city seems to revolve around, nice shopping experience regardless.

More to come tomorrow :-)

Birmingham Food Festival - Part 1

For the next 2 weeks there's a Food Festival in Brum, its fantastic and has such a good atmosphere. Birmingham is now considered the food capital of the UK, and if you ever visit its not hard to see why.

Who said that the English don't like Europe?

I like the relaxed atmosphere. I also see many interesting buildings in the background.

Great photos again. Is this most recent batch new Colmore Row? Isn't that supposed to be one of Birmingham's most prestigious streets?

The Old Joint Stock is a nice pub on Temple Row which runs perpendicular to Colmore Row.

Nice tour so far Brummyboy, I was in the Vanguard supermarket just yesterday buying some supplies.
