More floors makes perfect sense. Developers need to add more sale units to cut prices. Too many über-luxe projects are chasing too few buyers now...

Ny luxury real estate bubble is near the explosion. A lot of project in downtown and Hudson yards area will be deleted or put on hold.

And gary Barnett say similar words.

Yardeni thinks the High Line is over-hyped
“The High Line is completely overrated," he said. "How many times can you walk the High Line? Life is more than just walking the High Line.”
True, but I am amused by a NYC real-estate developer criticizing HYPE.
It's a nice park, it attracts tourists & their dollars, etc.

I do assume that some projects will be deleted and/or put on hold, but that's the way our markets work.

WRT 15 HY foundations: the Amtrak tunnel excavation is backfilled and steel is going up on it.

I'm guessing that some of the steel in the foreground right will be part of the base of 15 HY:

11/21? looking east

HYNY FB

and ILNY has 5-day earlier shots from a different angle: looking north from the high Line @ the Rail Yards:
11.16.14

This one might actually show two bases (rebar sticking up) for the northern columns of 15 HY on the far side of the razor wire fence

Hard to say if that platform steel will have anything to do with 15 HY or not. Certainly there will be some amount of foundational excavation in the foreground of the second photo, which doesn't look to start any time soon.

Yeah, I really should have just pointed out those two column bases (one on left, other on right) with the rebar sticking out on the far side of the razor wire fence:

ILNY(_)

Those correlate with the two column bases shown on top of the tunnel box in the earlier towerpower123 night photo below. I think those column bases are part of the massive concrete beams T-P built across the top of the tunnel box concrete casing in this location. The Dec 2012 P-B study mentioned the concrete casing build alternatives for supporting the north load of 15HY:

11.8.14?

towerpower123

Those massive (IMHO) beams are shown in the foreground of your earlier photo of the concrete casing:

9.19.14 (only ~2 months ago, when it was warm...)

I didn't even notice those! Yea, those must be for 15 HY. Looks like they even had one of them marked out on the rebar cage in my photo.

Are they doing any foundation work for the Equinox Tower as well? I may be wrong, but I thought they were predicting these two tower to be at similar points in construction at the end of 2014.

Well it certainly looks like 15 HY is U/C (caissons placed).

Yes, it does.

kznyc2K @ SSP has another recent photo of the caisson work @ 15 HY. The overbuild platform north of 15 HY is further along in this photo than in the previous ones I reposted.

Looking north from the High Line @ the RailYards, 11.20.14:

Good-looking cluster of towers. I like the varying heights and shapes, but a little more variety in the cladding colour would have been nice.

I think having all the buildings have the same cladding color kind of unites them. Would have been nice if it were something a bit different from the same blue glass that's going up all over the world so the project would stand out in the city, but if they had different cladding colors as well as different heights and shapes, people wouldn't realize how big the HY project is.
