This over whelming culture some how reminds me of my back yard.

The Children’s Investment Fund, founded in 2003 by activist investor Christopher Hohn, is providing $850 million in construction financing for the condo portion of 553 West 30th Street, The Real Deal has learned.
Also known as 15 Hudson Yards, the 70-story mixed-use tower is slated to begin rising at the southwest corner of the site in February. It will consist of 285 market-rate condos and 106 affordable rental units, the latter of which will be financed separately through a construction loan provided by the state Housing Finance Agency as part of Related’s participation in its 80/20 program.

Hohn’s London-based company, which is affiliated with a charity group founded by his ex-wife to benefit children in developing nations, is the most active construction financier of Manhattan’s supertall condo buildings.

That shed was very much in use for the Coach Spring 2016 fashion show on Tuesday.

As far as the tower is concerned, security for the event blocked anyone from getting close to the fence to keep them from hopping it and sneaking into the show.

As you can see, the foundation walls are being pored, so this will finally start rising.

Just for clarification, the Culture Tower is currently starting off with foundation work, and vertical construction will begin in February? Very interesting 106 units will be affordable rental, the rest being condos. Is it likely the vast majority of the second phase HY housing stock will be rentals, as their office/retail components will be much smaller, and a school will be going there?

That right there is why Manhattan looks the way it does. (One reason anyway.)

All started with Geography & Geology. The waterways and easy access to bedrock came hand in hand.

Site Photos Capture Construction Progress at Hudson Yards

Quote:
Finally, in the southwest corner, 15 Hudson Yards is in the early stages of construction as the foundation work is being completed. In the picture below, we see that the concrete pad and the crane base have been installed. The 70-storey, 279-metre residential tower will contain 385 condominium and rental residences, 106 of which will be affordable housing. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Rockwell Group and Ismael Leyva Architects, the tower will be attached to the Culture Shed, a 16,000-square-metre visual and performing arts centre and exhibition space, which will be home to an arts organization of the same name.

The mounting points are still there embedded in the slab. Maybe they put a tower section there while they poured the concrete to maintain positioning, and now they took it away until they are ready to install the crane.
