50 Hudson Yards.

If I had an apartment in here I would be running circles all day on that floor.

It looks like 50 Hudson Yards, the bigger office tower just buttressing the HY site. Better than 55 but looks too bulky...at least it just doesn't sit their like glorified box 55 Hudson, the smaller one.

15 Hudson Yards:
...

Mr. Cross makes an entertaining talk.

flickr's hardcore shutterbug posted a view (below) that shows the current state of the Culture Tower/Shed site. I assume T-P is busy working in the west (11th Ave) end of the Amtrak gateway tunnel box excavation so that they can get the tunnel concrete casing to the point where they they can start working on the 15 HY foundation caissons this year...

hardcore shutterbug/flickr "view from the Ohm, NYC (9)" May 12, 2014
Looking north (& down); 15 HY footprint is ~bottom left, north of the High Line & extending partly over the Amtrak tunnel box excavation.

I think you can NOT see the bottom of the western end of the tunnel box excavation & dunno if there are still excavators in that end NOW 5/16/2014.

The snip below is from Mr. Cross's BBW 2014 talk & shows 15HY/Culture Shed looking north w/o the VERY existent Ohm Building (south side of W 30th St) rendered

Progress on 15 HY foundation enabler

Progress on 15 HY foundation enabler - namely photos by 325ccr of the current state of the west end of the Amtrak tunnel box/concrete casing.

The west end is the near end of the concrete casing; photo is looking east from the 11th Ave viaduct. Plenty of progress, rebar & concrete; 15 HY will rise from the bottom right:

I do not know if the 15 HY design has the northern columns of the tower sit on the tunnel box or surround the tunnel box, but in any case I assume this ection of the tunnel box has to be complted before the tower foundations are finished. I've also reposted a 2014 timeline diagram, which was still being used by media websites in the last couple of months:

Looks like they scrapped the diamond tuck:

New Look: Related’s 15 Hudson Yards

Quote:
Plans for the individual buildings of Related’s Hudson Yards have continued to evolve, and a new rendering shows an apparent redesign of Diller Scofidio + Renfro and the Rockwell Group’s 15 Hudson Yards, which will house condominiums in the tower portion, and a “Culture Shed” in the podium.

Modifications to the tower’s form have not been significant, with the building retaining its warped, multi-cylindric appearance, but detailing has been partially eliminated. Visual evidence of the tower’s inspiration — said to be derived from a corset — seems to have been lost, as the straps that formerly cinched “the tower at its midsection, squeezing the rectilinear lower half of the building into a curvaceous upper half” have been eliminated.

*I think I like it better.

No more references of the lady doing a handstand thing in the Yards.

I'm sorry but I hate it. Before the design tapered in and out gracefully, with the middle section being so much more exciting. Now it looks like something that would be proposed in Asia. But I guess that I could grow to like, or at least tolerate, the design. It looks like there's something special with the cladding in the middle, but that could just Be reflections. Plus, the design is much more simple, but the original was also simple.

Thank god they got rid of that corset crap. That was my least favorite Phase 1 design.

The new design definitely looks a little sleeker, but it's hard to tell considering the rendering looks like somebody sandblasted it.

****. This could've been one of the more unique designs in NYC. Now it just looks... weird. Hopefully a phase II tower will be tall enough to partially block it from the Hudson.

What are they doing with those HY TOWERS? First 35HY now this? Those were by far the best designs in the area, now they look like..... I'm speechless! Damn value engineering!! Such a shame.
