WOW! I really like that!
Although the other design would've been much more iconic, this design is very classy but still out of the ordinary
I love the 'V' transitioning the lower box to the 4 'tubes'
These 'tubes' also seem to have change, they appear to have more of a 'point' towards the corners as well as the seam down the middle getting deeper further up; giving it a sort of tapering appearance
Very nice! Although I'm not a fan of the 1WTC-like base; but then again it also gives the appearance of sitting on top of the culture shed, the base also appears to taper inwards towards the ground to me?

Wait do we know this is a new change? The other towers look several years old.

Very good question.

We are rlying on the words of Nikolai Fedak/newyorkyimby.com, posted on the web August 6th @ 7:00AM.

http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/08/new-...son-yards.html

I'm curious how he (or any of the other RE sites) get their info from, in this case, Related.

"For any questions, comments, or feedback, email [email protected]"

Note that previous to the website posting @ 7:00AM he tweeted this @ 6:18 AM; the BOLDING is mine:

New York YIMBY
‏@newyorkyimby
YIMBY has a first look at possible redesign of 15 Hudson Yards, by DS + R:

https://twitter.com/newyorkyimby/sta...182656/photo/1

This is one of the reasons I tend to post the physical, directly captured pixels of what is REALLY there, which, AFAIK, is currently fill & the Amtrak tunnel box under construction...

So here's another photo from probably the same ~middle of July media tour, this time taken by Max Touhey via ny.curbed.com:

Photo by Max Touhey; text by Jessica Dailey "Looking at the tunnel facing east. The steel frame of the platform and 10 Hudson Yards are to the right."
The low, rusty steel-ish, platform on the right is the Culture Shed Plaza, which will have the Culture Shed on top with most of this structure's street level being the Fairway Market. Between this Culture Shed Plaza/platform and the photographer's position will be 15 HY, with part of it's northern load transferred to the tunnel box concrete casing being built in the foreground. And that concrete casing (or some transfer beam/columns around the concreete casing) then transfers the 15 HY load to the bedrock at the bottom of this expensive ($185M???) excavation.

Agree! Betw the latest filing indicates 72 floors so maybe this gets a little bump in height.

Yay, two more floors possibly? Got to think this could take it to about 940 or so ft... edging so close to supertall! Glad also the designs are still not finalized yet but excited about starting to see these towers blooming probably as of next year... can you imagine seeing them all rising in the skyline late next year and into 2016 how awesome it's going to look to see the West Side finally starting to fill out!

Yes: assuming the $$ keep flowing, there will be a LOT of construction activity in & over the East Rail Yards next year.

This China Daily article gives a tase of some of the financing, quantity/% unknown:

The Ben Fischer photo below shows the current condition of the 15 HY site @ ~ center of photo, white crane as reference. Photo is looking west from the under-construction 10 HY. Culture Shed Plaza looks like it's coming along well.

The diamond was unique and cool but I guess it did look a little busy. I almost like the newest design iteration more.

I was just randomly browsing the forums when I came across the old 1 Madison ave proposal.http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=760458 I can't help but think what a perfect design this tower would be for this sight. (Since the diamond tuck was taken out I'm not a huge fan) I just think it would really go good with the other towers and bring some green space vertical as well as the horizontal parks at its base.

Drone view of 15 HY site

J-biz dug up an animalnewyork posting of a drone view of "High Line at the Rail Yards". The screencap below is the best view of the 15HY site. Looking SE; drone position is show in the map inset in lower left

HY NY FB page reminds us that Fashion Week is coming to HY (Culture Shed, etc.) in 2018. Culture Shed platform is on left, surrounded by orange safety fencing.

Looks nice! Super sleek, and I love the top how it's just so flat against the curvature of the top half

I wonder if this is a supertall now?

It will have some pretty cool reflections.

The base seems like it's still in the design stage...

It looks incredibly organic, but also mixed in with a man made structure - sort of like a cyborg (?)
Lover it!

- HY NY press kit

4 months left in 2014 - I guess they could start drilling 15 HY caissons by the end of this year & they should have the WEST end of the Amtrak tunnel box ready for 15HY columns in the ~next month...
