Noice!

So we should be seeing both of them and 30 HY starting then too?

And will 15 and 35 HY be starting the prep in autumn with them rising 6months - a year later?

So sad what they did with 35HY & 15HY, not that they look terrible now, but we're gonna miss out on what could've been 2 classics.

At least 15 HY has maintained most of its distinctive shape. 35 is such a letdown, though.

edit: Actually, upon closer inspection, 35 is kind of interesting with the tapered design and the crown. It's not that bad. But I just wish we could know what the Hudson Yards towers will look like in their final forms.

They seriously need to pick one design and stick to it... if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

But this tower won't rise for quite some time, as they haven't even starting the decking for the platform.

Agreed... enough with the pre design alterations and get on with it! And if Vertical _G is right about the construction starting in the next month or two not a moment too soon!!!!!!! By construction, I meant groundbreaking and foundation work, btw.

Not going to lie -- the Hudson Yard development, although impressive from an engineering standpoint, is a total letdown in terms of design. These towers are all forgettable, and get worse by the week.

This was the only interesting tower of the bunch, and now it's another simple box. Ill bet that by the time this thing starts construction, it will be a simple rectangle with ordinary cladding.

This tower will NOT start in the next month or two, not even it's foundations. T-P will be occupied for the next couple of months just finishing the caissons and erecting the steel for the "middle portion" of the overbuild platform that will bridge the yards south to north. That "middle portion" will be used as a work/staging area to erect the rest of the platform, and start to work on the retail podium/"SHOPS AT HUDSON YARDS".

I think the recent flurry of press releases/documents/etc. included a statement that MOST of the caissons for the entire yard should be finished THIS year.

An example of construction coordination with the MTA/LIRR (who LEASED the air-rights to the very critical yard) is this Hardcore Shutterbug. The T-P drillinh has put 3? of the tracks out of use. This is on top of the batch of southern tracks that were put out of use by the caisson drilling for the southern portion of the overbuild platform.
8.15.2014 Looking west from 10th Ave, 35 HY would go in the top right of the eastern rail yard, where the rightmost trains are...

I didn't like the round design that much (it looked like a glassy smokestack) but I like this change even less. Is there anything David Childs can't ruin? The diamonded fašade is the best feature but it's spoiled by the clunky frame. And indeed there might as well be a 1 WTC antenna stuck on top.

Given the trajectory of these designs, I take no solace from your comment.

The only design at the HY which is set is Coach . While the basic design of Time Warner is set , details still keep changing like the most recent addition of 60' to the height .

What was a promising and different project became a simple glass box. The height is good. But only that.

But it will probably look more like the latest rendering than the earlier cylindrical one.

Overall I don't think Hudson Yards is disappointing design-wise. And 35 is more than just a simple glass box. As long as they don't change the few interesting elements (the cladding, the tapered/obelisk-like shape, the crown) then I'll be happy.

Hopefully the next rendering will show only a refinement of this design and not another radical change.

Honestly the Hudson Yards has only been improving in collective design, in my opinion. They've become less garish and mismatching.

One thing I do like is even with the rectilinear emphasis now it isn't boring...lots of interesting elements...I just liked the cylindrical look but we'll see what the final look is. Most likely as said the new look will be fairly close to the actual look once constructed. It's boxier but NOT a simple, boring box...very interesting look and texture and I'd like to see how it develops.

It does seem the original schedule of building out this phase of Hudson Yards if solgoldberg is correct is off some... which buildings will start groundbreaking soonest (outside of Coach Tower, which still looks pretty rudimentary after all this time)and when?
