The irregularity of the setbacks is what ruins this tower for me, which is a shame because it has real potential to be quite graceful

Or at least in height halfway between the north tower and the Coach tower. Now the north tower will be tallest of this cluster by far.

Agreed, I just don't like any of the towers they have proposed so far. Kinda reminds me of the 1WTC designs that were cast aside. Its just too much. NYC towers are known for their simplicity in design, these things are just trying way too hard to be individual, and the result for me is just a huge clustered mess that doesn't gel together as a group.

I wouldn't judge this tower by the renders which appear quite large and ungainly. This will be a residential tower so the final product will be more slender and refined in appearance. Were this an office tower, I'd be worried about the proportions which wouldn't be very elegant, by these illustrations.

Please, don't!
Contrary to most, apparently, I actually wish this and the other residential were shorter. I like the office towers, so I prefer them to really stand out and not be obscured by these towers.

BTW, I think the titles of the threads should be change to the new official names of the towers: 10, 15, 30 and 35 Hudson Yards.

Design change?

Edit notice that the bottom right has the same redesign.

The most damning evidence is the shadow. This is definitely post the setback design.

I highly doubt it! Design is good is but even better now that it's stretched to 1,000ft.

I'm just chalking it up as a terrible rendering. Better be anyway. Glad this will be a supertall now.

The shadow! Purchasing the 1 Hudson site changed things I think.

Maybe the commercial base was sent north so they could go all hotel and residential?

True. They also have 2 Hudson Blvd and Maybe 6 Hudson Blvd that will be offices.

I'm kinda ok with the haircut of the North tower if it means an increase in height for the culture tower (870ft) and equinox tower (1,000ft).

I think 2 HB potentially can be the tallest in the Yards when it's all said and done.

I doubt about the hotel and residential as you suggest. The hotel element in Related's mega project will be in the Equinox tower and there will be plenty residential already planned especially in the Western Yards omitting the culture & equinox towers that will have residential.

I thought the e-tower's fat base was the commercial. The new all thin design suggests that has been moved no? That would leave a hotel and res tower.

they might've twisted it around again and added some more height. I'll be disappointed if they completely revamped it. It had a good design.

Looks like the commercial portion of this tower is gone (from the new annotated image of the complex). It would be nice to know the final designs and heights of these 4 buildings.

My comment about the design change is also based upon the new "plot diagram," which is different from the old one. It appears that there is not a torqued cylindrical tower on a sqaure base.

I had heard that the design might change and the height might increase. Apparently, that's true.

35 Hudson Yards (aka Equinox) is now:

1,000ft (305 m)
79 Floors

I will remain open with the change in design, if this is the case. Need to see more and I'm sure KPF knows what they are doing.

Too bad the renders aren't very clear, if this is in fact a redesign. I hope the setbacks, or some variation of the rotating segments, remains. However, I won't be upset if the fat base is gone -- that was my least favorite aspect of the design.

Ultimately, I just hope they keep the texture as interesting as it has been shown before.

Have to see the design adjustments better than that one render, but I liked the building even with the big bottom...glass pattern work looked so good. I do think the setbacks and the cylindrical shape make it unique...please don't give in to corporate boxiness! We'll see with more renders, and from different angles. Really love the kick to 1,000 feet.. not loving that Culture Tower is officially being 870 ft...thought it was raised from 844 ft to 914ft recently. Still so excited by these two jewels as I am with the whole Hudson Yards project!

I think that new design, if it stays the same looks like it spins a little it looks great! Time to get this bad boy into supertall section :P

I don't think so. The diagram suggests that it is a full cylinder at the top.
