If I remember well, I've read somewhere that in Detroit they chose to give "some" priority to streetcars at traffic lights. I hope that this "some", as well as other design features, will be enough to ensure the needed reliability, which is one of key success factor, togheter with a good route choice, in this kind of services (at least, from a transit point of view).

At least here the route choice is straight forward and logical. If only it were majority center-running on its own lanes.

It's a streetcar...and I doubt it, as well, because I don't think it's even in operation, yet

Didn't Atlanta also have an incident or several like that?
I remember they did something to make it less prone to happen, again...

Detroit tram deliveries completed
13 Apr 2017

USA: Brookville Equipment Corp delivered the last two of six Liberty Modern Streetcars for Detroit in March, ahead of the planned opening of the QLine on May 12.

The pilot vehicle arrived in Detroit in September 2016, after Brookville signed a $32m order the previous year. The 70% low-floor three-section vehicles are 20·3 m long with capacity for 125 passengers

The streetcar service will start today. The line is already visible in Apple Maps (and gives directions at the right time), not so much in Google Maps...

Google maps is notoriously bad at their PT services. While you can get fancy stuff like real time traffic views of cities across the globe google fails to visualize even the most basic high priority PT network in even some major cities around the world (and I am not even talking about complete networks)

I suppose it has to do with Google being a suburban sprawl company.

But Google was the one that pioneered the GTFS standard that's widely used by transit agencies and apps around the world. Just because Vienna chose not to use this data standard and thus incompatible with Google Maps doesn't mean PT integration with Google Maps is bad
