Do you know the others on the tallest-in-Europe list?
The Borentoren in Antwerp is probably at the top.

What a fascinatingly inconsistent design.
Too bad that Joze Plecnik didn't get to design this building.

From certain angles, this 100 year old skyscraper (New York Con Edison Building, if counting age of the original structure before the add-on) creates some quasi-Abstract-Modernist visual effects

The first high-rise building in Europe: The Witte Huis in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Construction began in 1897 and it was the tallest building of its kind in Europe at the time it was completed. It miraculously survived the German bombing of Rotterdam in World War II that leveled almost the entire city.

Beautiful. I love the juxtaposition with the modern skyscrapers as well.

With proper upgrades, an old skyscraper can stay old while simultaneously becoming a modern building. Even a few years ago, before replacing its floodlights with contemporary lighting systems, the ESB was absolutely incapable of light shows like these:

As per futurist David Zach, a futurist building isn't one that's some crazy-zany-space-agey contraption. Instead, it's a building that holds value in the future. Thus, a 500 year Gothic church is much more likely to be futurist than the new, cheaply built roach motel down the street from it.

The old and iconic Barolo Palace in Buenos Aires, Argentina, once the tallest building of Latin America. Its design was based on The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri.
