Some facts about Toulouse:
inner-city = 426,700 inh.
urban area = 776,610 inh.

and its transportation system:

subway A line: opened 1993 (extended 2003 on its north-east part), 12,5 kms, 18 stations, 23 mn to reach the two terminus, 43 subway trains (VAL 206 and VAL 208).

subway B line: will open end 2006, 16 kms, 20 stations, should be extended in the south.

Both are mainly underground.

subway C line: light urban rail.

Bus: 67 lines, 760 kms, 3,256 stops, 22 million kms done each year.

Tramway: existed between 1887 and 1957.

The Toulouse system is really nice -- clean, very frequent service. But I think it messes up way too often and the trains themselves are way too small and creepy. All in one it's great, though.

TOULOUSE | Public Transport

SUBWAY in Toulouse City Center (FRANCE) 442 000 inhabitants ( 1 240 000 with urban area).

Line A (1993, 2003) : Subway 12,5 kms, 18 stations.
Line B (2006) : Subway 16 kms, 20 stations.
Line C (2003) : urban train line

Viaduct on the East ring road(peripheral)


The Viaduct of the subway lines A which crosses the ring road(peripheral) is of a length about 400m between the stations of Argoulets and Balma-Gramont.

The Tram Citadis 302 of Alstom puts into series Tora, measure 32 m of length for 2,40 m of wide. The internal height is 2,17 m. The capacity of every ream(train) is 212 places (48 assizes and 164 up, benefiting from supports ischiatiques, as in the subway, allowing to travel more comfortably even standing. The initial order of 18 trains was worn in 24 to plan the service of the continuation of the line T1 and new T2 to airport.
