Yes, even if it's already far more concrete than Toulouse project. Boring machines are at work.

Let's be honest: there's a serious lack of public funds when it comes to transport infrastructures in this country. Local authorities are reduced to begging. That's cultural. Every ambitious project outside Île de France is a pain to finance.

Can partly explain the absence of RER-like systems in big provincial cities, the slow development of metro/tram networks, some heavily undersized central stations like Part-Dieu in Lyon, bad connections between classic rail network, airports and high speed rail, etc...

I'm going off topic.

The worst route possibly designed. What a waste of money it's gonna be if anyone dare to finance it. They cancelled line B extension project sayin' the third line would replace it by serving Labčge-Innopôle. Now it's "optional" and the Airbus terminus doesn't even go further west towards Colomiers and its nearly 40.000 inhabitants.
A connection between line B and C has nothing to do in La Vache, a.k.a. low density suburbs made of warehouses and private housing estates. It should be placed in or at least next to the city centre to connect currently underserved dense boroughs (Amidonniers, Ponts-jumeaux,..), offer attractive transfer (nearby university UT1), relieve L16 bus line and Jean Jaurčs, by far the busiest station on the network. Missed opportunities are countless. Not only the city centre is bypassed, but half the route is redundant by paralleling both line B and the rail tracks.

I'm not used to complain when a metro project is announced outside Paris, far from it, but everything is to revise here, from A to Z. Seems like they drew this line blindfolded.



Let's hope Santa brings a new revamped one in his bag.

I lived in Toulouse for one year. I very much support the idea of a third Metro line, but this route would not have been of any use to me. Had it been in operation during the year I lived in Toulouse, I probably would never have used this line. I'm sure it will be useful to someone, but it looks like it was designed by someone who has spent less than a day in Toulouse.

The initial 10km of Line A opened in 1993 and the line is equipped with the VAL automation system developed by Matra, which is now part of Siemens. A 2.3km extension opened in 2003 and ridership has grown steadily over the last 23 years from 125,000 passengers per day in 1993 to around 230,000 today. Services now operate at 6-second headways at peak times, but additional capacity is needed to meet forecast growth in demand

Current headway is obviously sixty second, which is also the minimum for a VAL system - and not six, as the article mistakenly states.
Indeed, it's really impressive they handle with so huge patronage using two-car train (224 passengers each train).

I recently visited Toulouse and i love its metro.



I think the metro in Toulouse makes a great job, it is fast, frequent, and you dont experience long stays at the single station. The train is driverless, it stops openes the door, closes and goes straight away. Really cool. You have the feeling like it wastes not a single second.

But the design is really boring. All stations look pretty much the same. Even the tine artworks in some of them don't make them easy to distinguish.
