At the time that only a few stations were accessible, there were rumors that either the other stations did not exist or they looked like crap.

Looks like the rumors have been proven false.

Indeed. It's rather interesting to see how the entire system looks. Would like to see it for myself as I think it'd be interesting.

Well, they still could have looked like crap, which was later fixed...

Anyway, the rumor I always heard was to shield their people from too much contact with foreigners.

Very fascinating photo report. To be honest, I considered it possible that NK exaggerated the extend of its network towards tourists by exchanging some signs in those two stations. The rumors of totally faked operation with actors and such always seemed a bit far fetched though, even for NK.

So finally we have evidence that the capital of North Korea actually does have a proper metro network, not huge, but exactly what the previous limited access suggested: two well sized lines. That is more than many US cities can show for. Not to forget that the stations look not only lavish but well maintained, Soviet style in this regard.

I think such metro systems are one of the few things were communist systems sometimes hold what they promis. Palaces for the people. So in short, you can make fun of many things and point at many incredible, terrible or weird things with North Korea, but at least as North American I'd be a bit more careful when making fun about this Metro system.

A look on Pyongyang Trams, trolleybuses and metro

In the video you'll see that the city now uses Chinese-made Yutong buses. The "new" metro rolling stock is in the end of the video

0:40 a new bus terminal?

As far as I know this is the trolleybus depot, probably they are building a roof for the trolleybuses.

Here's a photo of the same depot from October 2015. You can see the roof in the illustration on the hoarding.
