No doubt this willl be one of the countless proposals that people complained about in the initial renders then found it beautiful as it finished.

The design is different, but not bad, I actually like it a bit, however, not sure how it will fit in the City skyline, espically with Comcast Tower 1 and Liberty 1 and 2

It looks out of place for Philadelphia, and crap compared to RAMSA's beautiful Comcast Center.

As far as design it feels like a step down from the other comcast building, doesnt improve the skyline even though its taller. Most of Philly's buildings are so unique, then theres just this box.

I don't know what it is, but I like the daytime rendering better than the night time one. I'm mixed on this tower, but as ThatOneGuy said its probably going to be loved by the time its finished

Comcast to Build New Supertall in Philly

Comcast Corp. will surpass the height of its own Philadelphia headquarters in a new skyscraper development that will accommodate its expanding empire. The global media and technology company will become the “dedicated home” for Comcast’s workforce of technologists, engineers, and software architects.

The 341-meter tower will be the tallest building in the United States outside of New York and Chicago, according to CTBUH data . The existing Comcast Center, at 297 meters, currently holds this claim, although it is just shy of the 300-meter height requirement of a supertall building.

“We continue to be proud to call Philadelphia our home, and are thrilled to build a world-class media, technology, and innovation center right in the heart to the city, to bring NBC and Telemundo downtown, and to create thousands of jobs and further drive economic activity in the region,” said Comcast chairman and chief executive Brian L. Roberts.

The technology center will also include a Four Seasons Hotel, and 139,355 square meters of rental space. Construction is set to begin this year, with an estimated completion date of 2018.

Can you name other examples of this? Where people hated buildings/renders before they were built but now we've come to love them?

Very few liked 432 park. Now with all the other buildings in the area going up it has become more accepted.

First of all, it's not a box.
Second of all, why must 'boxes' always be bad? It's better than an tacky 'unique' mess ruining the skyline. If anything, this improves it.

The design above is what happens when you cross Moscow's Eurasia with London's Heron Tower.

YAYYY Philly!

I'm so proud today of being a Philadelphian.

Although not a supertall the new Cira Center South, now under construction, will also be a new shiny trophy for The City Of Brotherly Love. The taller building will be 47 stories - 656 feet; the shorter one (looks too short in this render) is getting close to topping out at 33 stories - 430 feet.

Glass elevators are very cool. There are probably few better ways to experience height.

Philly is totally underrated crammed between NYC and Washington. Anywhere else and the city would be a major regional magnet. Spent July 4th there in 2012 and they have the best fireworks of any city in America imo. I'm glad there's progress in the city.

Here's a article from World Architecture News.
http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com...pload_id=23767

It's great Norman Foster is coming to Philly. Given that the city already got César Pelli in the portfolio it looks like Philadelphia is developing itself into an architectural gem. (Just like it was in the good ol' days)

I dont hate boxes, its just too boxy when you look at phillys current architecture, which is very daring for most american cities, and when you're scaling up you dont want to go backwards.
