I'm disappointed to see that this construction now blocks the fine silhouette of the Mellon Bank Center (one of my favourites) from the steps of the Museum of Art. This view used to be outstanding, with the clear profiles of the four tallest structures. Regrettably, the view has been compromised.

Funny... I just scrolled through those first few pictures and then reached back to massage my neck as if I'd actually craned my neck skyward to look up at the building!

hi all, I've been watching this building since they broke ground and I've noticed it seems like they've been delayed lately. It doesn't look like they've done much to the hotel portion this year - does anyone know why it is delayed or seems so slow going? Thank you

Great pictures by the way on this thread, the city is looking beautiful

They were focusing on interior work. The glass is starting to climb again. Fireproofing for hotel is about 7 floors up. Also, working on the beginning of the lantern. It's been full steam ahead, believe me.. the army of dudes working 6 days a week hasn't slowed down.

You can't stop development. Cities grow, sh*t happens. Also, Comcast will be building something else to the right of this tower (from the art museum point of view)...so the views from the Art Museum steps will continue to evolve.

that's good, really excited to see the finished product. I'm particularly interested to see the combination of the cooling tower and lantern given how much they will be raising the height. Standing at the foot of the building on the west side looking up to the tip of the lantern is going to be an amazing sight given that it already is without the extra couple hundred feet in place. First chance I get to stand there I'm thinking this may be in order

Well, for one thing, they are just about to begin the construction of the crown/spire, which almost always involves a slowdown.
However, I don't know if that is the only reason.

It looks like a fine building, but we Philadelphians have to accept the fact that it won't upstage the original Comcast Center, and it won't be singular icon as far as Philly skyscrapers go.

Agreed, but a good skyline needs its filler structures, as well. It's something that adds to the dynamic without being so awkward as to cause an eyesore.

I don't accept that, it will certainly upstage every building in the city for some while not for others. Such is always the case with subjective matters of taste. Personally I'll reserve judgment until the day they light up that lantern & we can all see for the first time how she sits

I think it's easily the most interesting skyscraper built in Philly since One Liberty. CTC is way more detailed/complex than the Comcast Center.
