Philedelphia has some great postmodern architecture. I like that dark grey building with the band windows in the center to the left of the Comcast building.

^Don't give them ideas or Pennsylvania will do it. They love suburban sprawl.

I confess I have such mixed feelings about this building ...

... if only it was 30 meters (100 feet) taller ...
... if only they chose a site 2 or 3 blocks to the north or west ...
... if only it didn't block out other highrise buildings ...

But, it is what it is.

I'll say something good about it: architecturally it is more interesting and edgier than San Francisco's Salesforce, LA's Wilshire Grand or NYC's World Trade Center 3. It does - and I mentioned this before - have an Art Deco vibe going on. It's very vertical, like a tall narrow slab bracketed by shorter slabs on either side ... and ... an Art Deco zig-zag thing going on.

I think Lord Foster could have done something to make it a real stand-out. Instead we have a merely decent building that goes a little beyond mediocrity but falls short of greatness.

Just my opinion.

This building does kinda remind me of 3 world trade center.
But I agree with you.
I like the tower, yet I feel like it could have been better.
My whole issue is how massively wide it looks from certain angles. I'm not use to seeing a skyscraper so wide. Perhaps if it were taller, the width wouldn't appear as bad.
Yet, I have to say the glass, cross bracing is simply marvelous.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I just don't like this building. It's tall, but it's bleh.

Philly and LA both now have their tallest being shorter to the roof than their second tallest with a spire surpassing the other. Makes for an unbalanced feel to both skylines. I do like this toiwer though, they just should have added a little bit more height to the roof to make it undoubtably taller to the eye.

In fairness, the LA stick compared to CTC's massive cooling tower chimney, and then lantern-- are two vastly different things.

I like this tower, its industrial, bold, ballsy...in your face, much like the City of Philadelphia itself. Thus, a fitting match (you're either gonna love or hate it).
Btw- once the protective tape is removed (blue tape), the silver steel of the cross braces and horizontal lines dividing each 3 storey section is really going to "pop".

absolutely agree, to call or compare everything above 'roof-line' on CTC a spire is a bit silly; most spires (like the one recently erected in LA, kick ass building by the way), look like antennas whereas here we have a very large in diameter cooling tower & narrower (but not antenna/spire narrow) lantern that is wholly unique when compared to typical spires - I'm thinking a lot of people are going to be surprised by how good this looks when it's complete & all lit up, I don't think it's gonna scream 'spire' to people

The spire on this is actually a cooling tower? Am I reading this correctly?

Industrial indeed. Is that what you would call this architectural style? Industrial? Post-Industrial seems a fitting name.

I really like this building because it compliments the Comcast Center, One and Two Liberty and of course the BNY Mellon Center.
