****, I´ve past several times in front of this one (been to Clermont-Ferrand at least six times), but I couldn´t have thought that the courtyard would be like that.

Damn Clermont, always keeps surprises...

Yes, it's a good example of the first French Renaissance.

So, what's wrong with the pictures?

Bourges is a beautiful historical city, with Hôtel Lallemant, Palais Jacques Coeur, Hôtel des Echevins... and of course the cathedral.

Thanks for this thread Titus-Pullo !

Beautiful façade and staircase. The ironwork on the balconies is quite special too, very delicate.

Yes, the Temple du Goût, symbolic of the "baroque of Nantes", conjugates naturalistic inspiration, asymmetry and moderate curves.

Maison des Têtes de Colmar - I really like it!
But if you show me just the photos, I could never guess it's from France. Doesn't look typical for french building tradition, does it?

Colmar is in Alsace.
Alsace became French for the first time in 1648, and the house was built in 1609, 39 years before Alsace became French.
Due to the history of Alsace, many pre-war buildings (but not all) look German.
That´s because Alsace has switched more than once between France and Germany (or the existing states before the unification of Germany in 1870).

Besides, not all of the Alsace pre-war architecture looks the same.
Mulhouse, which is very close to Colmar, looks rather different.
