A bit of news from the part of China that is closer to Europe : On March 18 the first phase of line 4 started construction. This line will run East-West in a city that has more of a North-South orientation, from Bainiaohu/Jinhu Lu (sources don't agree) to Qidaowan, with 16 stations over 20.9 km. It is expected to open in 2021.

Two other lines are U/C. Line 1 is expected to open at the end of 2018 or 2019. Line 2 will do so at the end of 2019.

So I was messing with Baidu Street View out in the far West of China, and I found Urumqi has at least two BRT lines up and running in addition to metro currently U/C. I know they are at least two because at Balou (where metro lines 1 and 3 will intersect, the latter started construction only recently) three of four possible directions have dedicated lanes and there are stops on each one - and they aren't just simple bus stops!

Urumqi BRT has 7 lines up and running.

The stations are heavy-duty BRT stops.
