MIAMI | One Brickell CityCentre | 320m | 1049ft | 80 fl | Demo

Quote:
It's Swire's party and they can't stop and they won't stop—adding to Brickell CityCentre. Today the company has announced it's plans for the 1.5 acre site at 700 Brickell Avenue (former home of Northern Trust Bank) which it acquired for $64 Million in July; and it's biiiiig.
The 80-story tower named One Brickell CityCentre would be the tallest in the project which is currently under construction. Along with the rest of the project the tower is designed by Arquitectonica and would house more Class-A office space, more condominiums, more retail space, and another hotel. In the press release Swire says that the company "intends to work with the City of Miami to have One Brickell CityCentre approved as an extension of the existing Special Area Plan."

Not bad.

Some background:

Brickell CityCentre Buys 700 Brickell, A Massive New $65 Million Front Door

Quote:
Tuesday, July 9, 2013, by Sean McCaughan

As expected, Brickell CityCentre, already ginormous at about five city blocks in size, has purchased 700 Brickell Avenue, an unnamed source told the South Florida Business Journal. CityCentre now has (1) a sizable chunk of prime Brickell Avenue property to expand the already mega megadevelopment, (2) a Brickell Avenue address, and most importantly (c) a giant new front door with the aforementioned Brickell Avenue address. They paid a pretty penny for it too, beating out Related Group and Fortune International who were also bidding for it, to the tune of $65 million.
Here's Swire taking the wind out of Tibor Hollo's sails as his own large projects languish on the sidelines. Related, Swire, Genting, suddenly global interests are driving new developments in Miami while the locals struggle to keep up. Buyers are global, now builders are global too.

Where is the 300+ meters coming from though?

I think it's speculation on the OP's part. What are the height limits at 700 Brickell?

-Ok I checked. It is in the 1010' zone....

Its more of a guess. At 80 floors and with a significant portion being office, though, it seems unlikely that itd be less than 300 meters.

The height limit there is 1,010 feet, so yes, a supertall could go there.

It'll still need enough office floors to get there. Residential floors appear to be of average height in the rendering.

It looks like 26 office floors and four large floors on the bottom. I think that could be enough for 300 meters.

Hell, let Swire add a spire!: I made a rhyme!

4 double height floors + 26 office = around 480 feet. Add 50 floors of conventional resy = around 500 feet. 980 feet. So this could be 300 meters high at the direct 984.3 ft. translation but may not reach 1,000 ft.

Too bad about those goddamn FAA limits. Miami could use double height residential floors like NYC!

Hell, 985 feet and we've got a supertall! I'll take one whatever way we can get it. I have an email in to one of the Swire execs to try to nail this down. She is female, so I'm hoping I'll get a response. I have spoken to her over phone before though and I've sent here aerials of the Brickell Citycentre site before, like this one that shows where One Brickell Citycentre will go right in the bottom middle of the photograph.

I love Miami, but the last thing it needs is another box. The top is kind of nice, but the rest of it stinks.

Actually, we don't have many of these boxes around. What we have are tropical-beach looking condos... we do need more of these corporate looking buildings in order to look more serious like.

BTW, I do share your views on SSP

It fits in that place. Most of those buildings are boxes from the '50s-'60s to the '90s. By the way, the stadium looks great in the back.

Thanks! I try to incorporate the stadium into the skyline wherever I can. Visit my "Best of Miami and the Beaches" thread linked in my signature line to see more aerial shots from that day.
