Criticism deleted. Realized I'd already ranted earlier in this thread. (Still hate the cheap pyramids on the roof)

It's truly mystifying that this design was deemed attractive enough to build. The "X" cross-bracing looks industrial and out of place on a residential building, the "airy cages" on top look absurd, and the glass looks like slush.

Hopefully the apartments are lovely on the inside, but the exterior is an eyesore.

It looks like a 600-foot tall parking garage.

Industrial residential is actually quite popular nowadays.

This tower is a tad too brutalist and clumsy in its homage to the adjoining landmarked building at the base. If the design integrated some red brick or terra cotta and the pyramids were enclosed or featured more detail in similar manner to the ones below I would give this a passing grade. As it is, its forgettable filler.

Lol!!.mdr!..if it were not,it would be!...
It's a repulsive eysore,far beyond a simple"forgettable filler"!
I feel so sorry for who is gonna see that thing daily!..

I hope so, but to be honest, I think the building is now even worse than I already feared when the design was revealed.

I agree.

I gotta admit, with better material and if the crown wasn't positioned awkwardly, this could've looked pretty good.

...The only way to make it look better is to tear it down.

So will there be painting/treating and/or cladding of the concrete on the south side? From the photos I don't think this is as bad as some of the criticism it has received, particularly if the concrete is still a work in progress. Like most others, I'm not a fan of the twin skeleton pyramids up top. I like the glass facade and cross bracing -- more interesting than the simple glass facades going up all over town.

I can't believe this was just built in NY. Its 2016 for God's sake. What and ugly eyesore. The worst design f**** up of this decade in terms of New York City's architecture.

Why did they go with the decision of having one side up made up of concrete? It seems rather strange for a city like New York.
