I can't wait for those crappy J&R buildings to come down. They detract from the beautiful old tower to the left.

Does the concrete stay bare like this? I'm kinda hoping it will, looks neat.

I think it gets clad in steel if the renders are to be believed.

I'm pleasantly surprised how this is turning out.

Nice, I didn't expect that it would be visible from there. (So many towers in between)

And it will be obscured by whatever rises on the J&R site.

The "filtration"

Pretty wild, huh? Apparently Berlin wants to do something similar with their river.

But what's more likely to happen is Bjarke Ingel's Big U, which actually has over $300 million in funding already. http://www.rebuildbydesign.org/proje...inal-proposal/

There's also Scott Stringer's plan for a park under the Bklyn Bridge but idk what's going on with that. People probably won't be going into the East River any time soon but they will at least have far greater access.

Seems like between some of the attractive buildings going up like 5 Beekman, 50 West Street, etc. and public works projects like these parks, lower Manhattan will be something of a hot spot
Wow..
