NEW YORK | 28 on 28th - Tower 28 | 197m | 646ft | 58 fl | T/O

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another tall tower proposed in Queens according to DOB records. This one will rise 596 feet. No renders yet, but this will really add to the Court Square skyline.

The building is proposed to replace the red brick building in the foreground:

It's good to see highrise proposals outside of Manhattan! Will help add to the ever expanding skyline!

Heatherwood to build 477-unit tower in Queens Plaza

Quote:
A new 58-story residential tower is set to sprout in Long Island City. Developed by Heatherwood Communities and designed by Goldstein, Hill and West, the 477-unit, 596-foot-high property will put down roots at 42nd Road and Queens Plaza South.

Amenities will include a third-floor pool, gym, roof terraces on the 45th and 58th floors, bike storage, and parking, according to the plan exam cited by BuzzBuzzHome. Retail will be located on the ground floor.

Heatherwood has been active in Long Island City’s ever-growing residential building scene for years now, having fully leased its property at 27-03 42nd Road in August. The firm purchased four residential development sites in the Queens Plaza area in 2011, part of a push by Rockrose Development, Meadow Properties and Heatherwood to open between 2,000 and 3,000 new apartment units for the area in three years.

The height should be changed, this one is 646 feet

http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/03/cons...th-street.html
Quote:
While permits indicate 42-12 28th Street will eventually stand 58 stories and 596 feet, they do not account for the bulkhead levels atop the building; the zoning diagrams reveal that 42-12 28th Street will actually rise 646 feet and 8 inches to its pinnacle, making it significantly taller than any existing residential high-rises in Long Island City. Indeed, at 646 feet, the skyscraper will become the tallest apartment building in either Brooklyn or Queens, and will stand a mere twelve feet shorter than One Court Square

Revealed: 42-12 28th Street

Quote:
The first renderings for 42-12 28th Street have been posted on-site; developer Heatherwood Communities is building the 58-story skyscraper, which will become the tallest residential tower in Brooklyn and Queens. The site is located in Long Island City’s Court Square neighborhood, and the architect of record is Goldstein, Hill, & West.

Going above what is typically posted to the sides of construction fences, the series of four images reveal the tower within its future surroundings; the aesthetic is simple and glassy, typical of new developments in Long Island City, though zig-zagging lines of a white material break up the facade’s monotony.

Above anything else, 42-12 28th Street’s defining characteristic will be its height, which will distinguish the structure from neighboring high-rises; rising 646 feet, it will stand only twelve feet shy of the soon-to-be un-monolithic One Court Square.

The site has been cleared:

Construction is moving along at 42-12 28th Street, and it appears excavation has mostly wrapped up. As you can see from the photos below, it looks like construction crews are now laying the foundation for the building.
When all is said and done, the project will rise to be 58 stories and house 477 units. The building will rise 596 feet, and amenities include ground-floor retail, storage, bike storage, parking, a third-floor pool, gym and roof terraces on the 45th and 58th floors.

New Look: 28 on 28th, 42-12 28th Street, Long Island City

In yesterday’s YIMBY Today, we noted that foundation work has begun at 42-12 28th Street, in the Court Square section of Long Island City.

Now, YIMBY’s got another look at the 477-unit residential building, with sharper renderings. The tower is currently under construction, and within two years, it will soar 58 stories and 646 feet into the air.

6sqft has this write up:

Long Island City Tower Will Be Tallest Residential Skyscraper in NYC Outside of Manhattan

Quote:
December 5, 2014

The tallest residential building in the outer boroughs is underway, and no, it’s not going to be in boomtown Brooklyn, but rather along the rapidly evolving corridor of Queens Plaza in Long Island City. 42-12 28th Street will soar 57 stories from an 18,000-square-foot lot and will contain 447 luxury rental units. At its 635-foot projected height, it will be just 20 feet shy of the current outer borough tallest, One Court Square (the “Citi” building).

Recently posted images on Goldstein Hill & West‘s revamped website reveal some new aspects of the project, including its ground-level street frontage and an “extensive” amenity package to include a swimming pool directly linked to an outdoor roof deck.

Visible throughout this ride along the 7 Train. About as tall as Gotham Center now.

Driving on the upper deck approach to the Queensboro Bridge is ridiculously awesome; the narrow elevated access ramps weave through LIC with stunning views of all the rising towers!
