Thank you for creating this thread. Málaga Metro is expected to open at the end of this year. I don't know if the deadline will be met, but line 2 has been finished for more than 2 years now.

It is interesting to notice that line 2 complies with full metro standards, as it is completely segregated (100% underground), like Sevilla Metro. However, a surface extension (as a tram line) of line 2 north of Guadalmedina station was announced last week, so the line won't stop being 100% segregated in the future.

On the other hand, line 1 won't reach Plaza de la Marina and Malagueta stations as originally planned, but a new underground terminus (Atarazanas) will be built 200 meters west of Plaza de la Marina. It is not clear whether eventually the line will continue further east or whether line 3 will ever be built.

That´s what they say now (politicians, you know...), but I´d rather get the system working before anything else...

New update, November 2013.

Some stations have been opened for guided tours, as a way of introducing the Malaga people to the new system.

Here, images of La Luz-La Paz station:

El Perchel will be the most important station of the network, since it will be the interchange between the two metro lines, as well as for the bus station, and the railway station too (Malaga-Maria Zambrano, which btw, I´ve never understood why it isn´t called Malaga-El Perchel).

Nice pics! The stations look quite nice but maybe just a little bit empty, i mean it would be good to put some character to the stations design, some art.
I think the entrances are pretty cool, plus the logo is great: MM

Yeah, let´s all paint them in pink with green dots, but first you give us the money to do it...

As long as people don´t fall down the stairs, the trains are half decently punctual and clean, they don´t go broke, and the lights don´t go out in the stations, it´s okay to me.
