"Roman Settlement" in the Poznan urban area

With style? Or without? It triggers discussion.

if they toned it down a bit, it would look like one of those grand terraces in Edinburgh or Oxford.

They should just abandon the idea altogether - it looks like a cheap knockoff. Everything inside is either white or grey, so that it looks classy and expensive, but it actually seems very cramped and uninspired. I can't imagine 5 or more people watching tv, as they would have to sit on top of each other or something.
Oh hell, I should have began by saying that it doesn't even resemble roman architecture. Everything from the stupid stone in the entrance arch (which looks like the most pointless arch that history has ever witnessed), through the wooden doors, bent glass in windows (good luck getting those), silly doors with something that looks like stucco to the support columns that would most likely be gypsum (or styrofoam as they're just cheaper), just looks ridiculous.
Hevelia and Modra street development looks nice and modern enough to last years - this one will be laughed at even before it's finished.

I think the people who want to buy here should invest in a real historic building, like a kamienica in the old part of every Polish city. They could renovate it and live in real history for less cost and once they finish they will have a great city at their door step that is walkable and vibrant like old Poznan. I think the issue here is that they want a space to park their expensive car

Kinda like that Roman style complex. In my city this would be a big hit. I've seen worse examples of kitschy architecture.

This idea should actually be promoted more in Poland. It's worth thinking about. If all people want is an older, "historical" looking place why not buy up old buildings like in Warsaw's Praga district and beautify them, instead of neglecting them? At least you've got more authenticity and there would be no senseless suburban sprawl.

Luckily that happens a lot as well in Polish cities over the last years. Still not on a scale of hundreds of buildings a city, but it is growing. Lodz for example has an organisation '100 kamienice' renovating whole districts at once.

I don't really include renovations in this thread, since I doubt whether it is the right place for them. Maybe I should from time to time, at least the biggest/most special ones. Therefore a small overview of what has been renovated in the last months. (It's just a small selection, in Poznan there are many renovations lately )
