Opposite the Neue Marstall (you can see it in back) St. George is slaying a dragon:

It was created 1849 by August Karl Eduard Kiss, initially standing in the courtyard of the City Palace:

He tried to define the new "German Architektur" to mixture of monumental Neo Classicism and modernistic desings. He wanted the german cities to have a more modern look without stucco facades. It all started in the 30s and was continued after the war. In fact most buildings of the 50s and beginning 60s which some of you hate so much were build in exactly the "Volksstil" he wanted for Germany. Architects just reduced the scale so there were not that monumental with only 2,50 room hight to 3,50 of the prewar period. Another funny fact is that those "Neo Historicist" buildings that are build today are the same like the one of the 30s - 50s. with nessesary alterrations like room high windows etc...
Hmmmm, not in the 1920s? I read that it started with popularity of Bauhaus.

That's irony, isn't it, that Bauhaus and Nazi "Heimat-Stihl", although strongly disliking each other, both loathed Grunderzeit and 1850-1914 architecture.

On the other hand, was this 1850-1914 architecture popular in the 20th century in the first place?

The expressionist Ullsteinhaus, built in the 1920s by the architect Eugen Schmohl, who unfortunately didn't live to see his masterpiece finished:

Ich denke Berlin ist eine sehr fantastische Stadt, es hat viele Gesichter und dass ist der Grund habe ich Berlin die interessanteste Stadt in Europa gefunden!

Meine Lieblingsort war das Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam, aber ich habe auch das Reichstagsgebäude und das Schloss Charlottenburg gemacht.

Ich hoffe, ich kann nach Berlin zurückkehren.

Berlin, actually consisting of numerous agglomerated cities, towns and boroughs, possesses a wide number of beautiful old city halls. Let's take a look at some of them. Starting with these two:

Rotes Rathaus (Red City Hall), built in 1869, is Berlin's main city hall:

Altes Stadthaus, built in 1911, serves as the second City Hall of Berlin:

These are indeed very nice photos of some beautiful historical architecture. Berlin, in my opinion, feels like North American city (Philadelphia or Montreal, for example) where ancient is always heavily mixed with modern.
