Sorry for posting in this thread just now, but I've just realized how nice views of the Steinway tower will the residents in tower Verre have, thanks to this render.

That goes both ways.

I agree, imagine the view from the terraces of the Steinway tower towards tower Verre, that's so futuristic.

Per The Real Deal, this project -- which has been stalled by accusations of corruption on the part of Malaysian investor Jho Low -- may be able to start again if the DOJ agrees to kick Low out:

Quote:
With the Park Lane Hotel hanging in the balance, developer Steve Witkoff and the U.S. Department of Justice have petitioned a federal judge to oust Malaysian businessman Jho Low from the project.

In a joint motion filed in Los Angeles, the DOJ and Witkoff TRData LogoTINY are seeking approval for their plan to sell Low’s 55 percent stake in the Park Lane, allowing Witkoff to move forward with development. Without a sale, court papers said, the hotel faces “default, loss of financing arrangements, and foreclosure.”

Also Per Curbed NY, Witkoff apparently has some Honk Kong Financiers on the project bringing some needed capital to the project.

I smell the potential for a very tall building here. Viva New York.

Hey the render quoted on this page by Architecture Lover, could someone Windows Paint the outline of the Zaha tower into it? Not really sure where exactly it would be in that view.

So the iconic Rockefeller view of Central Park is all but ruined. Not to mention all the shadows cast over Central Park.

I hope one of those buildings has an observation deck perhaps Central Park tower?

Don't worry about shadows over Central Park. That's why there's height restrictions on the Upper East and Upper West sides. Building to the South (Midtown) is perfectly fine.
When it comes to Rockefeller: on the bright side, at least it will get a fantastic view of all these new towers. And it's true that an iconic unobstructed view of Central Park is gone, but Rockefeller is all the way down at 50th. Central Park Starts at 59th! It was bound to happen eventually. I'm honestly surprised it took as long as it did. A good portion of the park will still be visible at least.

I do agree 1000% that one of those new towers desperately needs an observation deck. Unfortunately I believe they are all private residences, so I doubt it
Except tower Verre where part of it will be an extension of MoMA. Let's just hope there are some museum floors on some higher up levels.
