Nice find! It's good to know this not going be an all glass building from the looks of that rendering. Maybe limestone? Hope so.

This is all it says on their site:

Quote:
36 Central Park South Supertower Proposal
New York, NY

Proposal for replacement of The Witkoff Group's existing Park Lane Hotel property with a 100 storey residential tower
Presumably AJSNY has been commissioned by Witkoff to do these renders, but there's not even an architect listed, so it's likely still very preliminary.

I agree with VG's sentiment though, that if this is the direction they're going in, the use of limestone will be very welcome to balance out what looks to be a lot of glass, as well as being appropriate for a tower situated right on CPS.

Do you know if the 100 story figure is accurate?

P.S. You're the man!

Can the city demand that and building that would replace this tower have a white facade? It seems like anything other than concrete or limestone would be breaking form from the rest of the park lane white wall.

Whatever the design will be, keep in mind that it will be exactly between the Top of the Rock and CP, arguably one of the most photographed spots in the city. and it will at least be as high as 30 Rock so it better be something more than what has been posted already.

36 Central Park South Supertower Proposal
New York, NY
Proposal for replacement of The Witkoff Group's existing Park Lane Hotel property with a 100 storey residential tower wow this will be gigantic if it has the same floor sealing heights as nordstrom.

Dammit Yimby! You're normally the barer of great news, why would you do this to us?

But it still begs me the question, is a tower of this height/scale still possible if another developer comes along, or the possibility of the current developer seeking a different market and going for mostly residential?

Or is what's said in the article still true, its just that the renders are old?

If Witkoff was planning a 100 story tower at one time, I don't see why he wouldn't follow through. As we know, high floors generate money.

As per Yimby, Richard Rogers will be the architect!

fantastic!
This design could have a modern take on industrial design, as well as the structural elements being some of the main architectural features for the design

I would be very surprised if the full-block, market rate rental next to the Park Lane is not part of this development. Even if it's not, it will be independently developed into a very tall residential tower.

Of the various super luxury towers, Witkoff's has the best location by far.

I agree with Park Lane having the best location by far compared to the other projects rising along Billionaire row.

I admit, news of Rogers is an eyebrow riser!! Certainly makes this very intriguing for me and I was hoping for a Stern Limestone like tower here. With that said, the selection of Rogers is very interesting and I like his work and I look forward to see what he has planned for this site.

VERY interesting news. I agree with YIMBY's assessment that this will probably be more toned-down than Rogers' other designs...

Edit: I'm an idiot. Fosters designed Hearst tower.
