Guess I was right in not thinking too much of that render. But again, it shows that Related might be looking to develop that site sooner than we expect.

Ah ha! Maybe this will force Mr. Cross to return to the original intended height of 1337' for 30 Hudson & maybe fast track the construction start schedule for both 50 & 55 Hudson! If I were him, I know I would.

I hope related realises that Tishman will have the icon of the yards and maybe that will convince him to rethink his height decrease at least back above the ESB.
(Not that I have anything against it)

Is it still 1,068ft? It looks closer to 800-900ft in those new renders. Other than the discernible height difference, the new design is miles better than the last.

That cladding on those fins looks great! Is it copper or stone or something? Kind of hard to tell on my phone, but looks nice!

Yea I can't tell either. Prolly will get cladding similar to 35 or 50 Hudson or something in between, which would be good. That way not everything in the Yards is all glass and same.

I think it is time to make a dedicated combined thread about all of Hudson Yards and Hudson Boulevard developments in NYC section. This is a cluster of buildings all in the same area, all connected to the same idea of redevelopment of Manhattan West side and it seems it is hard to find needed information since it is so spread to each individual tower.

I second that motion.

Also, when and where did that pic of the base come from, VG? It appears much more in tune with the model we saw at the Time Warner Center exhibit (the staircase model, as I've been thinking of it) than it does with the more recent render from Piranha.

Sorry, I got the image in the April 22nd article from FastCo.

As I had said before, I quite like the design of 50 HY especially the kind of impact it will have from the street level on the boulevard. The fins look quite nice.

I do like Piranha’s version also, but I think that is more of a concept before this 50 HY rendering. But take a deep breath for those who are not enamored with either look…, still plenty time for tweaks or a change in design.

I also like both versions, Piranha's slightly more than what's shown here, but I'd be happy with either. If it's not going to be as tall or taller than 30 HY, I much prefer a subdued, boxy design for the other towers to play off of. Even though I don't care that much for the clashing kaleidoscope of angles, curves and textures of the 4 main towers (10, 15, 30 and 35), it won't help matters to keep adding more "signature" designs directly adjacent to them. For better or worse, those are the centerpieces of the development, until at least Hudson Spire jumps into the fray.

I'm also very curious now about this dark, grid-like facade on 55 HY. Appears very different from the more curvy, earth-toned designs we've seen.

I like that new pattern. The first few floors have a nice vintage feel to it.

Agreed. A little throwback to balance out all the abstract, futurist designs.

according to this latest model from the convention, it looks like the Pirnana's design is definitely out and it's the one with the fins which I like.

It also looks like in that picture if you look closely, that there is some sort of crown on it instead of being just a plain flat roof?? you'll need a magnifying glass to see it tho-

sort of like the top of 15 HY but of course in a square shape.

Sweet! I was hoping for a better image to surface with those models to get a better idea of what's the latest planned.

A few observations:

I do like 55 Hudson judging from the latest renderings & hotel addition at 35 Hudson hotel looks great imo. Marshall touched up on it in regard to the sake of the street wall along 11th ave and I agree. Viewing 35 Hudson from other vantage points you will not notice it unless you are standing on 11th Ave and viewing from a far from the West, the hotel would be blocked eventually from phase 2 towers if you can think long term. Not a big deal.

Judging form the apt building models along 30th street, the OHM building is aprox 375’ tall and the hotel looks to be pretty even with it.

Finally, 35 Hudson definitely got a height boost and I would say pretty even or close to the Observation deck at 1080’.

With the height boost, Maybe 55 Hudson gets a little boost to maybe 800'. Unfortunately there might have been a trade off in height with 55 Hudson Yards. It’s hard to tell and I hope I’m wrong but according to my calculations my military grade bionic eye tells me ~ 1,000’ give or take.

So far with every versions imo, it’s getting refined and better and I would expect things to still further change as we approach construction for each individual tower.
