Great addition to the skyline, but making it taller would've made it more pleasing to the eye.

C'mon Dance, this bldg is as pleasing as a samba beat. Views are wonderful, from every angle. Bravo! First-class!

I don't know if it should be any taller. It already dominates the surrounding neighborhood, and the scale of the surrounding buildings make it seem even taller, I daresay.

Is there a specific reason why you would consider making it taller more aesthetically pleasing?

Have you seen this building with your own eye? Just curious because it looks alot taller than what the pictures show.

I live across the street from omp, and I have a perfect view of it out my window- too bad I don't own a camera of any sort- but I definitely believe this thing should've been 100 ft taller. It's just an opinion, but it looks a bit stubby from a few angles. I don't think it's too tall for its surroundings, and especially when the other three get built along roosevelt it won't be that tall anymore. Considering the location of the building on the corner of roosevelt and columbus in such prominence, I think it could've used another 100 ft to its height. With that said, I still like the building for what it is.

you mean 2000 foot taller version?

OMP's 2 neighbors will be taller than it, which I think wil fit together nicely. I'm ok with the current height, but think its a little too fat!

These will definitely help, but I think there remains a vertical "gap" relative to the surroundings that needs to be filled in a bit. Perhaps it is just me, but I would rather have the height variations a bit more carefully graded.

This "lower" height is advantageous for the neighboring condo highrises (to the west), coming soon. Those are slated to be taller

There seems to be a tendency, IMO, of too many people on here to automaticall assume taller=better. But in this instance, I agree with that crowd. OMP is a great looking building, but as you gaze up at the building, eventually coming to setbacks around every 10 stories, it does give the impression the building stops abruptly with the crown appearing immediately after the final setback. There should be another 10 stories to give the design a more natural feel.

^ Nicely put. I tried to elaborate my position on this, but you hit the nail perfectly on the head here.

Bvictor1's first pic above (recent post) makes this tower blend in very well with (the new) Soldier Field, don't you think? I think this is a great addition to the south end of Grant Park. Finally, we're doing things in this town more inovative than a rectangular box on top of a square podium- although there are a few exceptions, ya ya ya I know !
