I may be a little late to the party, but here are my choices:
1. Raymond Hood. In just twelve years he produced an astounding array of influential skyscrapers: Chicago Tribune Tower, American Radiator Building (NY), Daily News Building (NY), McGraw-Hill (NY), and the mighty Rockefeller Center's RCA buiding (NY). Tragically died at the height of his career. 2. Philip Johnson. After designing a lot of international style boxes, helped evolve the Post-Modern style (thank God!). Less is (a) bore. 3. Albert Kahn. He only designed a few skyscrapers such as the GM and Fisher buildings in Detroit but his factory designs, besides revolutionizing the industrial workplace, are also said to have influenced many modern architects. He built all types of buildings and he got a lot more commissions than FLLW. |
