That's the Market-Frankford Line, the area of the picture is in West Philly (Market Street runs under it), I'm quite familiar with the system. Looks like it was taken from the 63rd Street station (my mom used to work at a Sears store that was located just across the city limits in Millbourne/Upper Darby about a five minute walk away).

It runs aboveground from it's western terminus at 69th Street to just past the 48th Street station, then it runs underground through downtown and exits just north of the Ben Franklin Bridge where it runs elevated over Front Street and Kensington Avenue to the northern terminus in Frankford, just south of the city limit with Bucks County.

I grew up riding it, was a much better ride than the Broad Street Subway at the time (which still had the original 1911-14 cars up until 1975).

They are currently finishing up the steel framing of the crown. With the crown taking shape you can start to get a good sense of how the building will look in the end. This building is certainly a great addition for Philly! While I still wonder a little bit about how this tower may seem too dominating on the corner of the current core of high-rises in Center City (this will hopefully change with future plans for University City), the shape of this tower is one of its best features as it still follows the original Cira concept by Pelli as opposed to Evo which was completely redesigned.

Images Showcase Unique Geometries of FMC Tower
Quote:
The 49-storey FMC Tower has risen just two blocks away from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station and the original glass-clad Cira Centre complex. Developed by Brandywine Realty Trust for American chemical manufacturing company FMC Corporation, the mixed-use tower represents the final phase of the 2.7-million-square-foot Cira Centre South development, which includes a student housing facility in EVO at Cira Centre South.

The western expansion of the skyline will continue to grow and grow over the course of the next two decades with the planned 30th Street District Plan and Schuylkill Yards project. (Including possibly 2 supertalls, and Cira II (705ft), along with about two dozen other high rises.

I usually don't like logos on buildings, esp if they're near the top but this one just feels right.

Philadelphia's FMC Tower Gets Red-Lettered Branding
Quote:
Described by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects as a "gleaming front door to the emerging University City neighbourhood," FMC Tower at Cira Centre South has received its namesake branding as the 49-storey tower approaches completion. The 223-metre tower will become the headquarters of the chemical manufacturing company FMC and host a grouping of units collectively called AKA University City residences.
