Heh, well maybe if they turned the boxes on end and stacked them, that could happen.

(Not sure if this is common to other practices, but on film shoots we use a lot of 20" x 12" x 8" apple boxes. In order to explain which side to lay them on, we use the shorthand "Los Angeles" for the lowest height, "Chicago" for the middle height, and "New York" for the tallest.)

Demolition underway for 606 West 57th St.

Quote:
From the High Line to Midtown, the far west side is abuzz with construction activity, and we can soon add another project to the list: TF Cornerstone’s 606 West 57th Street.

Demolition has just begun for the existing structures – a Lexus dealership and four-story building used as a garage, among others – and construction is set to begin this winter, with completion targeted for the spring of 2017.

In November, the Mortgage Observer reported that TF Cornerstone landed a $384 million construction loan for the project, to be financed by Wells Fargo, M&T Bank, and German Helaba.

The darker cladding works so much better.

Agreed, darker is an improvement, although the pattern on the West Tower/Upper Podium is driving me a little nuts. So busy.

I would love to see a render of this that includes the Pyramid. Talk about a contrast in geometry.

Construction Ramps Up on Far West Side Mega-Rental at the Foot of Bjarke’s Ski Slope

Construction Ramps Up on Far West Side Mega-Rental at the Foot of Bjarke’s Ski Slope
By Ondel Hylton

Quote:
Site excavation continues on TF Cornerstone‘s (TFC) mammoth 42-story rental development at 606 West 57th Street between Eleventh Avenue and the West Side Highway.
Midtown’s 57th Street has become synonymous with superlative titles, with the tallest, the thinnest, most expensive, and, arguably, some of the most exciting high-rises the city has seen in decades. At the far west end of the two-mile thoroughfare, TFC has joined in on the megalomania with a 1,028-unit, 1.2 million-square-foot rental building that will become the second largest apartment building in the city after Moinian‘s SKY project a few blocks south.
