DUBAI | DIFC Tower | 400m+ | 1312ft+ | 100 fl+ | Pro

Dubai's latest 100-storey tower on Sheikh Zayed Road
Tower part of Dubai International Financial Centre's new master plan

Published Wednesday, November 06, 2013

Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road is set to get another 100-storey plus skyscraper, Emirates 24|7 can reveal.

The tower will be part of Dubai International Financial Centre’s (DIFC) new master plan, which was unveiled at Cityscape Global in October.

“The tower is part of our new master plan and is being developed by the Al Jaber Group,” Brett Schafer, Chief Executive Officer, DIFC Properties, told this website.

It will be a mix of residential, commercial and hotels.

No other details were given.

The development cost of the new master plan, over 10 million square feet of land, is estimated at Dh15 billion with DIFC expecting to complete the plan in the next 10 years.

Last month at Cityscape, Meydan Group launched Entisar Tower, a tower on Sheikh Zayed Road that will have over over 100-storeys.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) data reveals there are only 21 towers in the world (constructed/under construction/proposed) over 100-storeys high.

In Dubai, there are only two completed towers over 100 storeys - Burj Khalifa, (160), is the tallest tower in the world, while Princess Tower, (101), is the tallest residential tower in the world.

The 101-storied Dream Dubai Marina (previously named Marina 101) is under construction and is scheduled for completion by end-2014.

On completion, it will be the world’s tallest serviced hotel apartment tower.

The UK-based EC Harris has already stated that within the next decade, the trend of building “megatall” towers – those which reach more than 600 metres high – is likely to increase, particularly in the Middle East.

Besides, CTBUH data reveals that the UAE is third on the list of countries that have most buildings higher than 200 metres.

In Dubai alone, there are 19 buildings taller than 200 metres and 18 of them are on Sheikh Zayed Road.

I think Al Jabeer had proposed this one before the crisis, so probably a revival of a project we had discussed in the past

seems we had a thread for this already since it's already in my Supertall list. maybe it has been moved to the archives, who knows.

I hope this tower will break the 500m mark at 100fl+

this however is mixed use, so 400m for 100 floors would be very low

That's great for Dubai's skyline that is getting denser and shifting away from Sheikh Zayed road!

I don't think its ON SZR, rather near it, it is the tall tower that had been in DIFC renders for a while. I think it is in proximity to the Index building

I mean the DIFC as a area is located off the SZR. The tower itself is the 1 Park Avenue, we already have a thread of

Be glad it wasn't started and then the developer went bankrupt; this way it would be a lot harder to sell the plot and get something done. DIFC is pretty well situated and linked directly to Downtown, so I'm pretty sure DIFC's land value will rise and attract new investors... just give it some time

The chances of a revival are as high as for Nakheel Tower or Burj Al Alam. Almost zero, that is
