I'm almost always positive about architecture but yeah, this is pretty bad.

Well, back in the days when Al Yaqoub was rising I quite liked the idea. But the cheap cladding and especially cancelling the clocks really ruined it and made the whole "Westminster-Clock-Tower-theme-thing" fail hard...

Fortunately, it's almost drowning in the sea of supertalls, but imagine this...thing.. standing in Frankfurt aM, London or New York! It would be taller than The Shard, One57 and Commerzbank Tower!

2 weeks ago a new update was released from emiratestenders.com stating that construction is ongoing on this one but I didn't really give it much thought due to the lack of a visual evidence:

Quote:
Name : P17 Tower Project
Description : Construction of a new high-rise tower comprising (77) floors with a height of 369 metres, consisting a mix of offices, retail, a hotel and apartments.
Territory : Dubai
Updated : June 22, 2016
Status : Current Project
But today I found this very recent pic showing activity and with one erected crane that looks like it is working where piling was done! Is this preparation before they start construction?
