Madrid 2013: Parque del Buen Retiro and (y) La Rosaleda

One of Madrid's most famous and stunning sights is the sprawling Retiro Park. It's a true gem of a park. Here's some pics I took this past summer while studying abroad. I added pics of nearby masterpieces like the Prado's grounds. But I'll go bit by bit:

[Uno de los lugares más famosos e impresionantes de Madrid es el expansivo Parque del Buen Retiro. Es una verdadera joya de parque. Aquí hay algunas fotos que hice el verano pasado, mientras estudiaba como estudiante extranjero. He añadido fotos de maravillas cercanas como los jardines del Prado. Pero voy a ir poco a poco]

All photos are my own
[Todas las fotos son mias]

Flowers in La Rosaleda, Spain's most famous rose park (although there are others in Moncloa for instance)

The entrance to the Prado framed by Velazquez

These giant roses are trying so hard just to hold up their own weight. The milky pink color adds a stunning touch to this entire area

Getting lost in Retiro

You would never imagine 6,000,000 people lived nearby

Inside the Crystal Palace

The Crystal Palace from the outside

The cladding on this "palace" is beyond stunning

A quiet and frigid Sunday morning

Statues like this ring the entire park

A gorgeous specimen of a rose peeks back at the camera and offers up a pose.

I should add that my Nikon got stolen in Gran Via so I had to improvise and bought a basic point and shoot at FNAC so the resolution is pretty bad. My apologies!
