How hard/expensive would it be to create a TEMPORARY structure taller than Burj?

Hi, I hope people don't mind me walking straight into the forum and asking a question.

I notice in the USA there are literally dozens of masts around the 600m mark (I think that is generally the tallest allowed?). That makes me think they aren't that expensive or difficult to build (by not expensive I mean millions rather than billions!)

But even these masts are built to last decades. How hard would it be to create a temporary structure half as tall again (and hence the tallest on earth) just for a few weeks? Say the duration of the Olympics or World Cup or a major national celebration?

I'm talking just a basic guyed mast with lights up and down it, and maybe a flagpole at the top?

Has such a thing ever been proposed?

Hey, this is is a nice thread but it doesn't belong here. It should have been posted in the Skyscrapers section of the World Forums (the second Skyscrapers section). This forum section is only for officialy proposed supertall buildings

A 2,800+ ft. guyed mast could be erected fairly quickly once the engineering bugs were worked out (no guyed mast presently in existence is that tall). the cost might be around $5-10 million for the basic structure. Obviously, tacking on specialty lighting, false fronting, etc. adds to the complexity and the costs.

A basic radio mast would be relatively cheap. But you would need a lot of spare land to build the supporting wires (I think that's what they are)
