what is the reason why the terminal not in a perfect X? or is it just the picture misleading?

is the problem land acquisition,or soil problem or the layout/form is for optimal use of gates or its just the way it is?

it follows a more organic asymmetric design....not a symmetrical X....it will look like this upon completion!!

Will all flights use this terminal or will the old terminals be kept in operation as well?

Initially it was envisaged that all airlines will be using the new terminal, but I think with Etihad growth, and as I read recently, Etihad will be the only airline using the terminal.

I would have thought that the existing terminals would be re-worked / merged into one following the move to the new terminal so that they can accommodate non-Etihad flights in the future. It wouldn't surprise me if all airlines moved to the new terminal at first and then some moved back after the renovation.

Time will tell but I certainly don't expect the existing terminals to close completely.

The new terminal will be used by Etihad and its partner airlines like Air Berlin, Jet Airways, Air Serbia, Alitalia (if Etihad is able to buy them), Virgin Australia, Air Seychelles and any other in the future in which Etihad may have part ownership stake and will fly to Abu Dhabi....

Others and codeshare airlines might stay in the old one and I expect some kind of people mover (train, bus) between the 2 terminals, the old and the new one!!

Yes exactly, basically it will be an exclusive hub for EAI i.e Etihad Aviation Group.

A passenger automated transport system link has been approved this year to facilitate the connections, but they didn't elaborate further...

Great photos!
I'm curious did you use a drone to take these images? If so just a recommendation regarding the glare perhaps you should purchase a lens hood? There's a great range of product designed by fusionimaging @fusionimaging.com.au
Keep up with those images, there awesome!
