Indeed, that is something you can do. However, even in Spanish, I prefer to provide data before reviews.

What I meant is that I, personally, will not participate in a discussion about whether it works better a consortium or another. Even if it was in Spanish.

And since I like to give details, here I have one (apart from the dates): North-South line is designed mostly for mixed traffic, while Haramain HSR is what to 320 km/h with a top commercial speed of 300.

Now that I have photos of the magazine Via Libre take the opportunity to make a list of maintenance items sent to KSA until June.

Plasser & Theurer and Plasser Spanish have so far delivered 12 modern machines for the execution of the project, to be undertaken by the works of construction and subsequent maintenance of Haramain HSR railway superstructure.
Between 2012 and 2015 they reached the port of Jeddah two batters-leveling-aligning ballast. One for track and switch, model 08-32/4S with two sleeper batting both on track and switch. The other 09-32 CSM continuous advance of last generation.
In addition, there has been delivering two dynamic stabilizers DGS 62N, three regulatory and ballast profiling, two model 2005 USP with 5 m3 hopper and one PDB 100, two trains laying catenary TTC hydraulic tended to end tension and three cars for catenary inspection DEC 40, similar to the more than eighty operating in Spain.

Yes, the spanish consultancy Consultrans was awarded in September 2014 the contract for the feasibility study of the second HSL Saudi Arabia linking Dammam and Riyadh, 480 kilometers long. The study budget amounts to 1.4 million euros. You will carry out a feasibility study by 2018 to determine if the line between Dammam and Riyadh can be adapted to standards for 300 kilometers per hour.

Riyadh-Dammam HSRL

I do not quite understand.

The Spanish consultancy Consultrans clearly says:
Quote:
The contract falls within the development to reduce the current travel time between Dammam and Riyadh from four and a half hours to less than three hours, which is included within the current Santra Plan. This arises by increasing the average speed of 180km/h from the current trains, to up to 300 km/h when using high-speed trains.
Average speed, depending on whether the distance is 449 km or 480 (do not know; by the way, is supposed to speak in a direct line without going through Haradh, it can be the difference?, on a map look more km), would be 150 or 160 km/h. Very rare for HST to 300 km/h.
That is, is an adaptation of the current line included in the current Santra Plan (Saudi Arabian National Transportation Plan), i.e: within Saudi Landbridge. But does up to 300 km/h?.

The news according Consultrans:
Quote:
Feasibility Study of the High Speed Railway Line Riyadh-Dammam
04 Septiempre 2014
Consultrans has been chosen by the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) to carry out the Feasibility Study of the High Speed Railway Line between Dammam and Riyadh for a budget of six million six hundred thousand Riyals, and with a duration of ten months.
The overall objective of the study is to evaluate the feasibility of the high-speed railway linking Riyadh to Dammam (480 km), as well as Hofuf, based on conducting a market research, demand analysis, definition of best alignment, definition of the most suitable systems and rolling stock, estimation of financial cost for the entire project ans advisement on the most appropiate procurement approach for future contracts for this project. The contract falls within the development to reduce the current travel time between Dammam and Riyadh from four and a half hours to less than three hours, which is included within the current Santra Plan. This arises by increasing the average speed of 180km/h from the current trains, to up to 300 km/h when using high-speed trains.
In the bidding process French, German and American companies such as Louis Berger, Egis, DB International and AECOM participated amongst others.
However, according International Rail Journal (they know less than contract Consultrans):
Quote:
Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has awarded a Riyals 6m ($US 1.6m) contract to a consortium of Spanish consultants led by Consultrans to study options for a high-speed line linking Riyadh and Dammam.
The line will have a design speed of 350km/h and trains are expected to operate at up to 300km/h, giving a journey time of 1h 30min between the two cities.
As well as looking at potential traffic, the 10-month study will provide cost estimates, revenue projections, and a preliminary specification for the infrastructure.
SRO president H E Mohamed Al-Suwaiket says the proposals for the new line will not affect the railway's plans to reduce journey times on the existing line to less than three hours, adding that such improvements will be possible with the introduction of new trains.
Quote:
giving a journey time of 1h 30min between the two cities
When they talk about i think confused the time saved or make the average of 300 km/h which is impossible.

But in Arab News they speak parallel plan:
Quote:
the signing of the contract will not affect the parallel plans made by SRO at the current phase to reduce the journey time between Dammam and Riyadh, which remains three hours. It is possible under the potentials and technologies available in the new trains used until the introduction of the high-speed line trains
Anyway, to me whenever I spoke adaptation of the current line, but we'll know soon as it is released.

In the factory TECNIVIAL they have been particularly careful in the development carried out to protect the signs, made of aluminum and composite fiber glass, abrasion from sand and other external agents that will be exposed in the desert .
TECNIVIAL signals are installed on the railways of other countries such as Egypt, besides in Spain. Early work on the ground have already started and is expected to be completed in December 2016.

How exactly do they address the issue with heat (on tracks and the catenary)?
