I understand why there are not anymore complaints from the client side towards the Spanish consortium.....in any case the contracts allow large delays and even if this works are stopped the Spanish consortium has to be waiting with all the materials and the people without any compensation. This is what i was told in 2012 by a group of people in one of the companies of the Spanish consortium. The client was wise, because Spanish companies know very, very well the contracts.

Track 4 molehill (or sandbar, not know) in the PAET 5. Surely the changes in area 1 have produced a change in kilometración line. The PAET 5 should be in the 312.2 km
It is logical that, by placing the location of the station's Mecca within the city, the distance has increased about two kilometers.

Rabigh-KAEC station (the arches 25 meters high are equal in all stations, and distinguished by color: gold to Mecca, in reference to the golden letters of the Kaaba, green for Medina, by the color of the dome of the Prophet's Mosque, blue and silver for Rabigh-KAEC as a symbol of a new emerging city, and purple for Yeda, referring to their culture)

Deadlines set

Summary of deadlines:

Phase 1.1 (the platform, by the Chine-French-Saudi consortium Al Rajhi Alliance)
Beginning in late 2009, with completion scheduled for April 5, 2012.
Following the project they added some bridges and other structures (especially in area 1) for a total of 853 M € (an increase of 59% over the initial award), so the end was extended until December 31, 2014 .
After it was announced in December 2015.
It was expected to hand over the last 36 kilometers to Copasa (next to Mecca), and another 14 for OHL (in by-pass to KAIA airport) in December 2015. It seems to be delivered shortly, but today they are not finished .

Phase 2 (the superstructure, by the Spanish-Saudi consortium Al Shoula Group)
Home foreseen in October 2012 for the construction of the mounting bases. In May 2013 to start putting way across the line. Completion 52 months after the signing: in December 2016.
Finally they began in April 2013 and only in the area 4.
Following the extension of 32 months granted to the platform, SRO and Al Shoula agreed in February 2014 an acceleration plan to start operating in the first quarter of 2018 since, meeting deadlines, it would be completed in August 2019. With recent delays: in November 2019.
In December 2015 Al Shoula committed to SRO to advance the deadline and put into service the section KAEC-Madinah in the first quarter of 2017, and the rest of the line at the end of the same year. The economic proposal of the Spanish consortium to carry out such modifications to the terms did not answer.
In the latest estimates of November 2015, with delivery of the platform scheduled for December, Spanish companies have relied on the superstructure completed in August; now it is estimated that the railway between Mecca and KAEC be completed from October 2016.

The current situation is this:
Area / kilometric Points / Location / Delivery Phase 1.1 / Delivery Phase 2
Area 1 / 013-075 / Makkah-Jeddah / scheduled for December 2015 / if it had fulfilled be delivered in August 2016; now: in October
Area 2 / 075-109 / Jeddah-link north KAIA airport and its branch / December 2015 / August 2016
Area 3 / 109-180 / link north KAIA airport to Rabigh-KAEC / December 2014/ 40 km completed (in December 2015)
Area 4 / 180-291 / Rabigh-KAEC to north / April 2013 / July 14, 2015
Area 5 / 291-375 / intermediate zone KAEC-Madinah / May 2013 / July 14, 2015
Area 6 / 375-449 / to Madinah / November 2014/ 23 October 2015

That is, I hope KAEC-Madinah in the first quarter of 2017 and Makkah-KAEC in the first quarter of 2018.

Progress of works and new deadlines

The Phase 1.1 (the platform) just delivered 15 km of area 1 and the last km from area 2 (the KAIA airport bypass), so we just left to deliver 22 km near Makkah. They should be delivered since December, so now it is expected that the placement of track ends in October. Phase 2 (the superstructure) is working on 125 km between Makkah and Jeddah.

As a result, it is now expected to begin operation in all line in March 2018, although before (it was announced in December 2016) will come into operation the section between Rabbigh-KAEC and Madinnah.

Phase 1.2 (the stations) is 92%, just need to finish the KAIA airport and Makkah.

There are already 4 Talgo trains in Saudi Arabia. According SRO, testing of trains on the stretch Rabbigh-KAEC to Maddinah proceeding smoothly and on schedule.

More information (in Spanish) and sources on Wikipedia.

Such a station belongs to a more centrally located place. It's a real pity that it was built so far out of town.
